Upcoming Parent Volunteer Opportunities
We have two exciting opportunities for you to get involved with the schools and provide input for the future of our district. We are currently looking for parent volunteers for two committees as follows:
Facility Committee:
This committee helps the district prioritize capital improvement projects. One of the main priorities will be the preparation of our sites for electric buses as required by New York State.
High School Principal Hiring Committee:
As previously announced, our high school principal Matt Mahoney is retiring. We will begin our search in January with the intent to fill this vacant position in June. Our goal is to create a smooth transition for our students and staff for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. We are looking for volunteers to participate on the hiring committee to provide input for consideration to select the best candidate.
If you are interested in volunteering for one of the committees listed above, or both, please fill out the following volunteer interest survey by Monday, December 5, 2022.

Report Student Harassment/Bullying
Did you know we have an electronic form on our website to report student harassment or bullying? If your child has been experiencing harassment or bullying, please fill out the form to make a report. You can find a "Report Student Harassment/Bullying" link on our website under the Parents heading. The report will go directly to the district's DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) Coordinator, Mr. Elliott Butt. Once reviewed, Mr. Butt will coordinate an investigation into the matter. With your help, we hope to continue to fight against bullying and create a welcoming environment for all students in Gananda Central School District.

Impetigo
Impetigo - A highly contagious skin infection that causes red sores on the face, however it may appear anywhere on the body
Impetigo mainly affects children.
The main symptom is red sores that form around the nose and mouth. The sores rupture, ooze for a few days, then form a yellow-brown crust.
Antibiotics shorten the infection and can help prevent spread to others. Prescription medication is almost always prescribed for impetigo.
Spreads - By skin-to-skin contact (handshakes or hugs).
Students can return to school when they have been treated for at least 24 hours or lesions are cleared from oozing. Area should be covered to protect from spreading.
(Always contact your physician if you have any questions or concerns)

Dismissal Pick-up Change for ES
We have a small change to make for the student pick-up dismissal process at Richard Mann Elementary. Beginning Wednesday, November 30, 2022, we will be moving the pick-up line inside the building. You will be able to go inside the gym doors near the playground area beginning at 3:05pm. Please note: the doors will be locked for security reasons so we will have someone stationed at the doors to let you in. Students will be dismissed to you from the hallway near the gym. The process remains the same as below:
1. If you are picking up your child at dismissal, you will pull into the parking lot of the elementary school and park your car to the right side (in front of the playground) of the parking lot.
2. Once you are parked, use the PikMyKid App to indicate you have arrived.
3. After indicating you have arrived, enter the double doors near the gym beginning at 3:05 pm to pick up your child. Please note the doors will be locked for security reasons so we will have someone stationed at the doors to let you in. Please remember to bring your ID with you. See the map below for location details.
