Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
October 23rd-27th
What's Going On This Week:
Ms. Harris' Science: This week we will review our unit on sound. Students will participate in a science court case using their knowledge of sound. Each day a different lesson in their study guide is due. (Monday: Lesson 1, Tuesday: Lesson 2, Wednesday: Lesson 3) On Friday, they will take their unit test on sound.
Ms. Harris' Social Studies: This week we will be learning about the Columbian Exchange. Students will be examining the exchange of goods and ideas between the New World and the Old World. On Thursday, they will have a quiz over the Columbian Exchange.
Mrs. Thurston's Math/ELA:This week we are finishing our first Lucy Calkins unit, Interpreting Characters: The Heart of the Story, and diving deep into studying characters. We will start our new unit, Boxes and Bullets: Personal and Persuasive Essays, after Halloween. In writing, we are reviewing our Narrative/Realistic Fiction unit by starting Spooky Stories!!! We will be working on this until the week of Halloween. Spelling test is Monday and new words will be given. In math, this week we will review work on multiplying by 10’s, 100’s, 1000’s. Quiz on Wednesday and then we will start 4x1 multiplication.
Ms. Harris' Math/ELA: This week we will be reviewing folktales and literature webs. We will also be performing a fable reader's theater play on Friday. In Genius Hour, students will be picking their passion project topic and guiding question. In writing, we will be editing and publishing our spooky stories to share on Halloween. In math, we will be multiplying by multiples of 10, as well as multiplying 4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers.

Report Cards Go Home Wednesday
Grades will be finalized this afternoon.
