Student Services Topic of the Month: Grief and Loss
Unfortunately for too many teenagers, death and the resulting grief are part of everyday life. By the end of high school, 5 percent of today’s students will have lost one of their parents by the end of high school, and 20 percent will have experienced the death of someone close by age 18. When surveyed, 90% say they have experienced the death of a loved one.¹

Dual Enrollment Options
Dual enrollment includes a variety of programs through which high school students are enrolled simultaneously in both high school and college to earn both high school and college credit. Wisconsin currently offers courses through the Early College Credit Program (ECCP). The program allows Wisconsin public and private high school students to take one or more courses at an institution of higher education for high school and/or college credit. For a detailed understanding of the program, please review the Early College Credit Program webpage.
Start College Now allows high school students the opportunity to take college courses at Wisconsin Technical Colleges. This program allows all public high school juniors and seniors who meet certain requirements to take postsecondary courses at Wisconsin technical colleges.
More information can be found at Start College Now website
Deadline for applying for Spring semester enrollment in both of these dual enrollment options is October 1st. Please see your school counselor with any questions about Start College Now or ECCP.
