Ms. Courchesne's Book Pick: The War for Kindness by Jamil Zaki
Mrs. May's Book Pick: Never Have I Ever by Joshilyn Jackson
Ms. Leite's Book Pick: Political Tribes by Amy Chua
Chua elucidates our "need to belong to a group" and how people will often ignore the rational reasons and follow their hearts in order to maintain these associations. For many people, group identity is what matters to them the most, and they will "kill and die" for it. This book highlights ways of developing a national identity (as Americans) that transcends political tribes, and the author discusses the importance of overcoming destructive political tribalism.
