Worthington Park Shark Sentinel

Friday, May 21st, 2021

Dear Worthington Park Families,

Please take a few minutes to review the information below in regards to upcoming events here at Park. We are excited to have three more days with our students this coming week. Just a friendly reminder that our last day of school will be Wednesday, May 26th. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us here at (614)450-5500.

Have a great weekend and GO SHARKS!

Field Day

This past Wednesday was our building's Field Day Celebration. While it was quite hot outside, the kids had a wonderful time! It was a nice way to celebrate the end of the school year with a wonderful Spring Tradition. Thank you to all of the parents and our Worthington Park PTA for helping plan this amazing day!

Celebrating the Class of 2027 & 2028!

As our school year begins to wrap up, we are looking to celebrate our leaving 5th and 6th-grade Sharks. Here at the school, we will have a student & staff celebration on Wednesday, May 26th during the day. We will have a sign set up outside of the building if you would like to come to Park after 3 pm to take pictures.

We are so proud of your hard work and we cannot wait to see all that you do in the future! Congratulations to the Class of 2027 & 2028 #SharksForever

End of the Year Celebrations

Over the next three school days, our classrooms will be having small End of the Year Celebrations. On Wednesday, May 26th, we will be "Clapping Out" our 5th and 6th-grade students as they transition to Middle School. Students and staff will line the exterior of the building to cheer on our students one last time as they take a lap around WoPark. Due to limited parking and social distancing- this event is going to be for staff and students only. However, if you are the parent of a 5th or 6th grader and you are able to park in a different location and walk to our building, you are welcome to come and take pictures. (***5th and 6th-grade parents- a more specific email is coming to you on Monday with more details on Clap Out!)

Please connect with your child's teacher for more information about what is happening in the classroom.

Calling All Library Books!

Today was our last call to return all Worthington Park Elementary Library books back to Ms. Justus. Please take some time this weekend to ensure your child has returned all Worthington books back to the building! While this date may seem early, we are in the process of cataloging our collection before we begin our exciting Library renovation project this summer. Thank you for helping us ensure all of our books are back and available for your child to check out next Fall!

Immunization Updates from your School Nurse

We have just received information that Columbus Public Health Immunization Clinic is open now, for routine childhood immunizations. Please visit https://www.columbus.gov/publichealth/programs/immunization-program/ for information on hours of operation. Many current students remain behind on their shots. Please use this summer to update your student's important and state-required immunizations. Worthington Schools will be reimplementing exclusion in the 2021-2022 school year for students who are not up to date. Please contact our School Nurse, Joyce Casey ( jcasey@wscloud.org or 614-450-4315) or Vicki House (vhouse@wscloud.org or 614-450-5515), if you have any questions regarding your student's immunizations.

Planning on Moving this Summer?

If you are looking to move or already have a relocation planned this summer, please reach out to Ms. Renee Fisher here in our front office so we can update your child's information in our system.

If you are moving out of the district, you can also reach out to Ms. Fisher at (614) 450-5500 so we can assist with getting student records to your child's new district.

When does school start again in the Fall?

We are looking forward to welcoming back all of our students back to Worthington Park next Fall. Our first day of school will be August 18th, 2021. Here is a link to the calendar for the Worthington school district next year.
