For St. Paul's

FROM THE PASTORS DESK

Greetings,

The church year, just like our lives, is in constant transition. We are born

(Christmas). We grow and learn (Epiphany). We experience difficulties (Lent), and

death (Good Friday). But the Good news in Jesus Christ is we also experience

love, forgiveness, joy, and life (Easter).

Did you know Easter is not over? In fact, there are 7 Sundays after Easter Sunday

that the church celebrates Jesus’ victory over death. A victory that brings us all,

yes, even to those you don’t like or agree with, Christ's forgiveness of sin, which

brings life to the world now, and into the mystery of the great beyond.

On the 28th of May we begin the longest season of the church, called Pentecost.

Pentecost is a time we celebrate the Holy Spirit coming to live in and amongst us.

It is what many have called the birth of the church. It is a time we are reminded of

our baptismal promises of the Holy Spirit bringing us faith to believe in Christ and

his teachings to love God and all of God’s creation, seeking justice and

reconciliation to all.

May is also a time we celebrate our confirmands who will be confirming their faith

and their baptismal promise that their parents and sponsors made for them. Come

on Sunday, May 21st at 10:30am to hear their statements of faith during the sermon

time and celebrate with them this time of commitment.

Peace+

Pastor Tim

Now that we are back to having normal services and you feel God's calling, maybe the Altar Guild is for you.

4TH OF JULY PIE & ICE CREAM SALE

St. Paul's has committed to do the pie and ice cream sale for Waterloo's one day July 4th celebration. We will be asking for homemade fruit pie donations and for teams of 4 to work 2 hour shifts beginning at 10am. The first shift will include helping set up. The last shift will help with closing and clean up. We will schedule a 6-8pm shift but this may be a short shift as we will close when sold out.

FUN FOR BRISTOL AND ST.PAUL'S

GAME NIGHT: We are having a Joint Game Night on Saturday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m. at Bristol. We are asking everyone who can to bring games and something to eat to share with everyone. Many people suggested we do it this way after the last game night at Bristol. If you can come, but don’t have something to bring, still come. There is always more than enough food and games. Come on out, relax, and have some fun!

BONFIRE: Yes, we will be having a bonfire again at Bristol. We are aiming for early in June. Watch for more details to follow.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

Thursday May 4, 2023 is the National Day of Prayer. There is always a theme and this year it comes from James 5:16 "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." The prayers that are done by all people are a powerful source of caring for our lives in the world God has created for us. God is the eternal caregiver and we are the people who are called to care and love each other especially with the time we pray together. Our world needs prayer support everyday!
