Gwinnett Schools Closed on Friday, November 5th
Gwinnett County Public Schools joins the rest of Atlanta and Georgia in congratulating the Atlanta Braves on winning this year’s World Series. In celebration of our hometown team, Gwinnett County Public Schools is joining surrounding school districts in closing schools on Friday, November 5. We know that many of our students, families, and staff are planning to take part in this historic celebration and we foresee that special events on Friday could have a major impact on school district operations and attendance. Again, Friday will be a student holiday in Gwinnett County Public Schools. This will not be a digital learning day and there are no plans to make up this school day. In addition, all staff will not report to work on Friday.
While we know this unplanned day off will be an inconvenience for some of our families, this decision was necessary to address the anticipated high absenteeism rates among students and staff.
This is an exciting time for Atlanta. We know that none of our students (and some of our staff) were not alive the last time the Atlanta Braves won a World Series. Enjoy this historic moment! Go Braves!
Color Run Volunteers Needed!
Calling all volunteers! It takes a village to throw a Color Run and we need YOUR help! Click the Sign Up below to volunteer your time by helping to bag up color powder for our Color Fun Run!
We do ask that volunteers arrange for childcare as the powder can get quite messy. Also, please remember that masks are required while on GCPS property.
Digital Learning Day Reminder
Reminder... Tuesday, November 9th, is a scheduled Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students.
This is the third of six at-home asynchronous learning days scheduled this school year that will provide additional planning time for teachers. (Note that students will access lessons in eCLASS but will not have virtual class time with their teachers on these scheduled DLDs.)
The district will deliver meals along all bus routes countywide. Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. Like meals served at school, these delivered meals are provided at no cost to the student under a federal waiver.
