We are learning...

Reading and Language Arts: We worked on our retelling skills this week using the books The Little School Bus, Goatilocks and the Three Bears, and There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. We are learning about characters and the setting in stories. We are practicing sequencing events.

Math: We practiced our graphing skills and reviewed teen numbers. We made a "Favorite Farm Animal Graph" and guess which animal won? Well... it was the horse, of course!

Social Studies/Science: Our focus was on "Living and Non-Living things." We learned about what living things need and how to identify whether something is living or non-living. Ask your student to tell you about living things! We are ready to go to the farm to see some real live animals!

Things to remember...

  • Our rescheduled field trip will be on Monday, October 5th. Remember to wear your class shirt (if you have one.) If you are bringing lunch, pack it in a paper bag with your student's name on it. Bring a snack-we will eat it before we leave. Our trip begins at 8:30 am and our return time is around 1:30 pm. Cross your fingers for pretty weather!!
  • The Boosterthon Fun Run is Friday, October 9th. All parents are welcome to join us! Thank you to everyone for supporting our school fundraiser!
  • The 50th day of school is October 19th. Our Room Moms will be asking for help with our celebration of this day. All students are invited to dress up like the '50s decade too! More information about this will be in your student's folder next week!
  • SAVE THE DATE...We will celebrate Fall with a "Book Character Parade" on October 30th. Information about our celebration will be coming home next week in your student's folder. Parents are welcome to join us to watch our parade that day!
  • Things have been kind of crazy this week! Please remind your student that we follow our class rules...always! Here is our list so you can review them with your student: Listen and follow directions. Keep your hands to yourself. Work quietly. Respect others and property. No running or tumbling in the classroom. We want everyone to make good choices daily!
  • Kei is our Knight of the Week next week!
