National Presidential Scholars Information
The department is seeking nominations for outstanding high school seniors for the 2016-17 U.S. Presidential Scholars selection cycle. We encourage you to nominate students who, while demonstrating outstanding scholarship, might not otherwise be nominated through the current SAT/ACT or arts recognition processes. If you have an outstanding high school senior deserving of consideration, please submit a nomination through the department’s online Presidential Scholar Nomination Form by Oct. 14, 2016.
Director Wise will select 25 students (10 males, 10 females, and 5 in the CTE category) to submit to the U.S. Presidential Scholar Program for consideration.

National Policy Seminar
Iowa FCCLA has the opportunity to send one FCCLA member to the 2017 National Policy Seminar this March. We are in the process of working on an application for this but start thinking about an FCCLA member who would be appreciative of the opportunity to represent Iowa FCCLA and have the opportunity to talk to federal legislators about Carl Perkins and the impact FCS and FCCLA has on their lives and the lives of all their peers and community members.
I believe that the Department of Education provides $1,000 for the student attending. The student must be accompanied by an adult.
