First Graders Hunting for Insects by Mr. Beilby
On Friday, September 14th, the first grade classes embarked on a tremendous walking field trip with eager students and wondrously helpful parents in hopes of catching some awesome insects. The trip was both exciting and educational for all involved, as students, parents, and teachers all caught many different species of insects in magnifying containers. Everything from grasshoppers, to dragonflies, to even a praying mantis. Our expedition was a rousing success for all involved, and all had an amazing adventure.

CES is looking for musical instruments
New CES/CHS music teacher looking for instruments
CES is excited to have Mr. Mann joining the CES/CHS staff to provide music education to students. Fifth and Sixth graders have the opportunity to take either orchestra or band this year. However, we are in desperate need of instruments. We are cheerfully accepting musical instrument donations! Please contact Mr. Mann (rmann@pcoe.k12.ca.us) if you have a gently used musical instrument and are willing to donate it to CES. Thank you!
Thanks for being part of the CES team!
We appreciate the partnership between our families to provide an exceptional elementary experience for our students. The CES staff is a passionate and dedicated team, and will go above and beyond to support our young people. We also understand how busy families are, and realize parents may not be able to visit Chester Elementary during the school days. Talking to your child about his/her school day, reading with him/her each evening and advocating about the importance of education and the joys of learning will help tremendously. Thank you!

The Great River Clean Up
CES 4th Graders visit the Feather River by Alexis & Brooke
Have you ever participated in the Great Sierra River clean up? This year's fourth grade class did! We picked up trash at the Feather River and separated it into three different piles: recyle, trash and reuse. After that, we talked about what was in our trash bags and what we picked up. Our teacher, Ms. Crowther, helped us put our three piles of items into different bags. Our class recycled some materials, and threw away the rubbish. We are going to use the reusable materials for our next field trip to create boats to race. This is how we were responsible at the Great River clean up. (Great job Ms. Crowther's class!)
