Fulton Flier

Week of May 3RD

Dear Fulton Families,

Thank you very much to our entire Fulton Community for helping celebrate Principal's day last week. I am truly honored and blessed to serve our Fulton community!

"From the moment students enter a school,

the most important factor in their success is not the color of their skin

or the income of their parents.

It's the person standing at the front of the classroom."

~Barack Obama

Our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that our students not only have grown academically but have sought out ways to make learning fun and consistent throughout this ever changing year. Please join me in celebrating our wonderful teachers and staff this week as apart of teacher appreciation week!! Our PTA has organized a variety of ways, your child(ren) can join in the celebration. Please see the flyer below.

As many of you have heard, on Thursday the Board of Education and Central Office announced that we will work to make every effort to enable as many students as possible to benefit from in-person opportunities while maintaining existing instructional and operational protocols. A little later this morning, we will be sending out further communication to our Fulton community around this. Included in this communication, is a google form for you to request your child to join us for in-person learning either 2 or 5 days. If you have already emailed administration, you do not need to complete the google form.

We are so excited to partner with Nothing Bundt Cakes in Columbia to have a fundraiser today. 20% of the proceeds will be returned to Fulton to help us refresh our front office and staff lounge. Thank you for your continued support!

Warmly,

Dr. Burks

We would love to spotlight you as well. Please complete our Parent survey to share about yourself!

Lastly, in the last year, we have documented an increase in hate bias incidents and crimes targeting AAPI groups. To that end, the members of the newly formed Howard County AAPI Workgroup, with the full support of Dr. Calvin Ball's office would like to invite our students to participate in an opportunity to submit narratives, performances, or art pieces celebrating their heritage. We want to highlight the wonderful ways in which our AAPI community has made Howard County their home.

Please contact Kai-Lin Yu (President of ASU Atholton High School) with all questions. The deadline for submissions is Monday May 10, 2021." AAPI Heritage Month Submission Form
