7th Grade- Mrs. Simmons
Hi KMS! I am the new 7th grade counselor, Mrs. Latoya Simmons. I am so excited to be joining the 'Cougar Family' and supporting this amazing group of 7th graders. I am a wife and a mother of 4 beautiful children who keep me busy while I am away from KMS. This year I plan to connect with all of my students and be one of the many advocates for their individualized success! I look forward to a one of kind school year with one of a kind students.
~Mrs. Simmons
8th Grade-Mr. Sheridan
Hello 8th grade Cougars-
I am extremely excited to be joining Kingwood Middle School this year as the 8th grade counselor. Eighth grade is a time of growth and transition as students begin to explore their academic interests to prepare for high school. I look forward to working with all of our cougars to have a successful year. This school year, I will be meeting with every 8th grader in the Fall and the Spring to check in, build relationships, and help develop goals for the future. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
~Mr. Sheridan

Our Comprehensive Counseling Services
As part of the Personalized Counseling Plan at KMS, comprehensive school counseling is an integral component of our mission. Comprehensive school counseling programs are driven by student data and based on the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Program guidelines.
For classroom guidance, counselors visit classrooms multiple times per year to deliver lessons based on the Great 8 skills. Each nine weeks we are focusing on a different Great 8 Skill.

What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis.
