Seminar Day 2019 - Final line-up announced

Here's our full line-up for our annual Seminar day this June

We are back for our 10th year.

Join us for a learning filled day with engaging and expert speakers to support you, your library and/or classroom.

The ReaLM organising committee have been working hard over the last couple of months and are pleased and excited to announce the full 2019 line up:


Barbara Else - playwright and fiction writer, and has also worked as a literary agent, editor, fiction consultant and is the author of award winning 'Go Girl - A storybook of epic NZ women' published in 2018.


Stuart Lipshaw - Managing editor at Penguin Random House NZ and author of 'Oh Boy - A storybook of epic NZ men' published in 2018


Craig Phillips - Freelance illustrator, who works for publishers all around the world from his New Zealand studio, an award winning illustrator of 'Giants, Trolls, Witches and Beasts' as well as founder of publishers Wildling Books.


Miriam Tuohy - Senior Specialist at National Library of NZ Services to Schools working in school library development. She has 10 years experience in school libraries (primary and secondary).


Alan Dingley - All round library rockstar. Current School Librarian at Palmerston North Intermediate Normal, home to the current Kids' Lit Quiz national champions. Ongoing member of the local Theatresports group SpontaneoUS. Former Youth Librarian at Youth Space at Palmerston North City Library.


Glyn Harper - Professor of War Studies at Massey University. As well as being the author of numerous history books, Glyn is also an award winning children's author. "Bobby, the littlest war hero" is his most recent book for children.


Lewis Morgan - As the professional Story Teller Zebong, Lewis has worked with children from preschoolers to teenagers - using the power of stories to encourage students of all ages to develop oral language skills. He also uses his many talents in a wide range of roles including working with youth offenders using role playing games, and model building as a springboard for writing and maths.


Zebong - leads our ReaLMTalks this year 'The Power of Storytelling'. He'll share tips and tricks with an opportunity for you to share your own with fellow seminar day participants.

ReaLM (Reading and Literacy in Manawatu) is a not-for-profit committee set up by like-minded Manawatu teachers and librarians, working together since 2009.


We aim:

To offer Professional Development and networking opportunities for library staff and educators working with children and young adults.

To promote reading and literacy in Manawatu.
