The Mata Memo
October 18, 2022
Principal's Message
Dear Mata family,
This week was a busy one! We completed Common Assessments, hosted parents for lunch, completed Cycle 1, supported "Pink for A Cure", analyzed data, planned for the upcoming quarter 2, and conducted many other activities, all while teaching, learning, achieving, and growing!
This month, I would like each and every parent to come and observe your child's classroom. We are currently hosting Observation Week! You can sign up with your child's teacher to observe the Montessori environment and all it has to offer! Parent conferences will also occur this month as well. Please make sure to sign up for a time to meet briefly with your child's teacher about how they are growing academically and socially.
Remember, to read the full newsletter so you won't miss out on any of the fun and learning!

Attention 8th Grade Parents - PSAT - October 19th
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Eduardo Mata Montessori will administer the PSAT 8/9 on October 19, 2022 to students in the 8th grade.
This test is only offered on-campus in-person with no virtual option. The PSAT 8/9 tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10—in a way that makes sense for eighth graders. It measures what they’re already learning, shows them whether they’re on track for college, and lets them know where they need the most improvement. That means students have time to tackle these areas long before they take the SAT. The following are other key benefits of the PSAT 8/9.
· It helps establish a baseline for students as they enter high school and begin preparing for college and career readiness.
· It will identify areas where students excel and may want to consider taking higher-level courses, as well as areas they should focus on to improve academically.
Please note that PSAT 8/9 scores are not sent to colleges.
Thank you!

Upcoming Student SEL Survey
WE THANK YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FOR BEING OUR VALUED PARTNERS AS WE WORK TOGETHER TO EDUCATE THE CHILDREN IN OUR SCHOOL THIS YEAR. WE VALUE INPUT FROM OUR COMMUNITY AND WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOUR CHILD(REN)! THEY ARE IMPORTANT PARTNERS AS WE WORK TO IMPROVE THEIR OVERALL EXPERIENCE AND SUPPORT THEIR NEEDS.
IN ORDER TO LEARN MORE ABOUT STUDENT EXPERIENCES, WE WILL BE ASKING FOR YOUR CHILD’S FEEDBACK VIA AN ONLINE SURVEY. THE SURVEY SHOULDN’T TAKE MORE THAN 10-15 MINUTES TO COMPLETE.
WE ARE ASKING THAT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE SURVEYS, AS THEIR FEEDBACK WILL PROVIDE INVALUABLE INSIGHTS INTO THEIR EXPERIENCES AND HOW TO IMPROVE AND ADAPT OUR SCHOOL TO THEIR NEEDS. IF A STUDENT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION TO ANSWER A QUESTION, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SKIP THE ITEM ALTOGETHER.
THE SURVEY CONTENT WILL ASK STUDENTS TO SELF REFLECT ON THEIR OWN SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING SKILLS, LIKE SELF-MANAGEMENT AND SELF-EFFICACY.
WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SURVEY ADMINISTRATION, PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO CONTACT US AT Matamontessori@dallasisd.org
