Student Planners and Executive Function Skills
These planners have been specifically designed to build the key executive function skills of time-management, planning and organization for our students from grades 3-8th grade.
Adaptable to home and classroom learning, this academic calendar was designed to support the habits of daily planning and future thinking to get assignments and multi-step projects done on time. It makes the abstract concept of time visible, supporting kids at school and home.
TEACHING- please take the time to teach the students the parts of the planner:
- Please go through each page of the front part of the planner with the students. Maybe scaffold this depending on the age group. For UE/ JH it is very important that you go over the policies.
- For all students it is important that you show the educational resources.
Conversion charts, grammar, parts of speech, periodic table, Bill of Rights, Presidents, US Map, world map, multiplication chart, math reference page, sign language and roman numerals
EXPECTATIONS- please make this an expectation for all students of your class. Have daily planner checks- email parents the IMPORTANCE of planners.
Planners for distance learners- we will be having distant learners use planners as well. Please utilize this resource with all students.
Give lessons on how to use planners in conjunction with work plans, syllabus, expectations, and more.
COVID Corner
- The protocol is the family is expected to call the office and Micah to inform them of the positive result. Mr. Micah will then reach out to the families of that class and the teachers. It is the responsibility of the families to inform the office if they have been around someone positive for COVID and for them to tell us if they have taken the precautions necessary after being exposed.
- If a child or family, teacher knows they have been in contact with a positive- then they need to QUARANTINE for 2 weeks.
- If a child naturally runs a high temperature then the families needs to get a doctors note to bring to the office.
- If a child has a temperature a phone call will be made home by the office/ Admin with time/ date/ temp.
- If a child has a temperature we (Micah/ Admin) inform the family and have them pick up the student.
- If positive the family needs to call office to inform. From here Micah will inform the classroom families and teachers.
- If 3 people in a class test + this class will go into DL. If 15 people school wide test + then the entire school will shutdown and go into DL.

MMA Nuts and Bolts Discussion Points
August 16: I was under the understanding that we had to wash our rugs weekly. I brought mine home this weekend and washed them at my house. I have a large dryer (bigger than the one at school) and I still had to do about 3 different loads in the dryer and run the dryer at least twice with each load. I don't see how 30 minutes will give us time to dry all our rugs. My husband suggested doing 5 or so rugs a day during our slot. However, does the washer get done in 30 minutes?
Please discuss with your team and collaborate ideas.
Nuts and Bolts Add Ins
If you have something you would like to be included in the weekly Staff Nuts and Bolts- please email Nicoletta by Sunday at 12:00. Nuts and Bolts goes out at 5:00 each Sunday.
