Africans Being Pushed to go "Home"
Robert Finely recently established the American colonization society that works to send Africans to Africa. According to Finley, they belong in the home of their fathers where they can fully reach their potential. He also has more selfish reasons for this colony, like the belief that African Americans reduce the quality of life for whites. Henry Clay and Francis Key are helping Finley get this group on its feet.
Abolitionist Views on Society
Some abolitionists see the colonization movement as beneficial to freeing slaves and sending them safely to Africa, but others see it as a way for slaveholders to get rid of the free black population, therefore strengthening the institution of slavery. Much disagreement is arising about this movement, furthering the separation between southern plantation owners and northern abolitionists.
