Key Note Speaker
We have the amazing privilege of welcoming speakers from the Sudanese Community Center in Chicago. They will be sharing their experiences as a "Lost Boy of Sudan". This is such a great tie-in to our One Book, One School reading of A Long Walk to Water, and we hope that you can join us for this once in a lifetime presentation!
Fall Into Reading Stations
Book Exchange
At school, we will be hosting a book drive. For every three gently used or new books that you bring in, you'll receive a voucher. On the night of Family Literacy Night, bring your voucher in, and you'll be able to select a new book to take home.
Read Aloud by Crone Sports' Teams
Come listen to one of the members of our Crone Football, Cross Country or Volleyball teams' read aloud! They will be reading picture books that would be appropriate for our younger readers.
Word Games
Play from an assortment of games, all designed to test your word power. Some possible games include Apples to Apples, Bananagrams, Catch Phrase, and many more!
Craft
Come join us at this station to make a literacy-themed craft that you can take home. This station will be appropriate for all ages!
Pictures with Pedro
Pedro the Panther will be walking around Crone all night. Make sure to get your picture taken with him!
Photo booth
A photo booth will be set up for you to take pictures with your family, friends, and favorite books.
Book Fair
Looking for a new book to read? Check out our "mini" book fair in the LMC.
Reading Room
Of course, a family literacy night wouldn't be complete without a room for you to just sit down and read with your family and friends. Bring a book from home, borrow one, participate in the book exchange, or buy a new one from the "mini" book fair.
Milk & Bookies
At this station, you'll be able to have milk and cookies as you create a personalized title page to go in a book that will be donated to a local charity.
Book Shares
Would you like to hear Mr. Davenport tell a scary story? Listen to some books that have been made in to movies? Learn more about banned books? There will be many book share stations set up for you to experience.
Silent Auction
The Crone teachers have purchased one of their favorite books and have autographed it. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to P.O.P.
Refreshments
We'll have several snacks set up for you to enjoy! (Items in picture are not representative of food actually served.)
