Industrilization

The 27th presidential election was held in 1882. Benjamin Harrison won the election and was elected president. It was a great moment in U.S. history.

Gold was struck in sutters mill California. Because of this U.S. residents flooded westward helping westward expansion. The gold found helped boost the econmic state of the United States.

Social communication is one of the most important and most used things to date. The only reason this was made possible was because of the telegrph. It was beginning of the exchange of messages with out a physical message.

Immigration

The Chinese exclusion act was a part of a dark time in the U.S. It was a law passed by President Arthur that restricted Chinese immigration into the united states. The main group stopped from entering the U.S. were the laborers.

Tenement housing was a way to make it so all the immagrants could fit in cities. It was not something that the U.S should be proud of. The tenements were to crowded and had terrible living conditions.

Another terrible part of US history was the ghettos. It sepperated the racial groups into their own areas. There were terrible conditions and it revolved around racial profiling.

Urbanization

All US cities are municipalities. A municipality is a city that governs itself. So the city has a town hall and creates its own rules for certian things.

The bessemer process is a way of heating steel that produces mass amounts of stronger steel. This process was a great help in building a lot of cities in the US. It made skyscrapers and elevators a possibility.

Public services were a great accomplishment in the US. It made transport across cities for the general population easy and inexpensive. It helped the expansion of cities.

Progressiveism

Teddy Roosevelt created the square deal. This was a program for conservation of resources, control of corporations, and consumer protection. The idea behind the square deal was to protect the middle class from bad trusts.

Graduated income tax is a tax that makes it so the more you make the more you pay in tax. The idea behind this was to create equality between classes. It was a terrific idea at the time and is still used today.

The national womens party was an american organization created to fight for womens sufferage. It was created by alice paul and lucy burns. They pickited the president through war and got a law passed for women's sufferage. It was a great time in US history.

Imperialism

Dolalr diplomacy was an act that was approved by Taft. It made it so that loans made to other countries are guaranteed. It was used to further US aims in Latin America, East Asia, and Africa. It was a successful act and helped the US.

Open door policy was a policy that made it so all countries could trade with china. This policy played on free trade. It allowed all countries to trade after their colonies had been reclaimed by china. It was a terrific act.

Moral diplomacy is a system where support is given to countries whose beliefs are similar to the US. It was created to help with peace between countries. It was a great system that was a success.

The 14 points was a program created to ensure world peace. It was the basis of negotiations at the end of the war. I am proud of this because it helped world peace.

Reperations are when germany had to pay for all the damages done during the war. Because of this germany was broke and caused the great depression. I am not proud of this.

The sussex pledge was a pledge by germany to the US saying they wouldnt attack passenger ships. Germany violated the pledge and the US entered the war. I am proud the US joined the war and helped end the war.
