Ms. Davis' 1st Grade Happenings!!!
Hello Parents
It's a wonderful week here in first grade! A new homework menu is coming home with your child today and is due on Thursday!
End of Year Assessments
With 22 days left of school it is very important that students are here everyday, the entire day, and on time!!! Students have several assessments that they must complete before the end of the year! For our end of year reading assessment students will be reading with a different first grade teacher. It is important that students are confident in their reading and do their very best even though they are reading to another teacher. We have talked about this as a class but please reiterate this to them at home. There is a written component to their reading assessment as well. It is vital that students are able to independently read a prompt about the story they read and respond to it in written form. A lot of the time students can read at or above grade level but the written component brings their reading level down. WE DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN! We are working on this in class but I wanted to reiterate the importance of this to you all as well! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about end of year assessments.
This week we are...
Math: Continuing to Partition shapes into halves, thirds, and fourths
Science: Discussing the needs of living things
