Balfour Orders
Balfour representatives will be at HGHS this Friday to meet with seniors at 8:45 a.m. about purchasing graduation items (caps and gowns, invitations, etc.) They will meet with juniors at 9:45 a.m. about class rings. They will also be here for Senior Parent Night on Tuesday, August 21, at 6 p.m. They will be back to collect orders during lunch on August 22-23.
UAH College & Career Fair Permission Slips
Juniors and seniors received permission slips today for the UAH College & Career Fair that they will attend on August 30th. These need to be signed and returned by Friday.
Students are also encouraged to register for the fair. See attachment below for instructions. Registration will allow students to easily share information with any of the colleges/universities in attendance by giving the student a barcode to share with the recruiters. Registration is optional.

College & Career Counselor: Janell Jagielski is Hazel Green High School's new College & Career Counselor. We are so excited to have her on our team! She has created Remind101 groups for each class. Parents and students can sign up to receive college and career information, including scholarships, using the following information:

Soccer: Soccer tryouts will take place Monday and Tuesday at 4 p.m. This will be the ONLY tryout this year. See any of the coaches for more details.
Softball: Softball tryouts are Thursday and Friday (August 16-17) after school.
Trojan Ambassadors: There will be a Trojan Ambassador meeting Tuesday, August 14, before and after school in the Black Box Theatre.
Senior Pictures: Bill Miller Photography will be taking orders for senior portraits during lunch on Tuesday, August 14.
Bill Miller Photography will be on campus for make-up senior portraits on Monday, September 17.
Bowling: Bowling tryouts are Wednesday, August 15, from 4-6 p.m. at Pin Palace.
Superintendent's Student Advisory Council: Juniors and seniors may apply now to become a member of Superintendent Massey's Student Advisory Council. The Superintendent Student Advisory Council will meet throughout the 2018-19 school year with Mr. Massey. The council will engage in discussions involving issues that affect students throughout the system. Council members will also serve as liaisons between the superintendent and students. Meeting times will be announced at a later date. Students in grades 11-12 are eligible to apply. All applications are due by August 17, 2018. Click here to apply!
HGHS Senior Night with College & Career Counselor: Senior Night will be held on August 21st in the media center at Hazel Green High School starting at 6 p.m. In addition to giving information on senior events, Mrs. Jagielski will also give a presentation on financial aid.
Tennis: Tennis tryouts will be held August 27th for boys and August 28th for girls, with an extra day on August 30th if needed. Tryout times will be from 5-6 in the afternoon. Any student from 7th grade to 12th grade may attend tryouts as long as he or she has an updated physical. Please contact Coach Brock with any questions at mbrock@madison.k12.al.us.
UAH College & Career Fair: Juniors and seniors will be attending the UAH College & Career Fair on August 30th from 12:40 to 1:40 p.m. They will receive permission slips on Monday and Tuesday of next week that will need to be signed and returned.
UAH is also hosting a parent night on August 30th from 6-7:30 p.m. It will be held at the UAH Fitness Center.
Class Fees: If you still need to pay any class fees, you can pay online through MySchoolFees or in person with cash or credit card. Click here to see the fee list for the 2018-2019 school year. All class fees are due by September 15th.

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.
Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend - Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.
1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.
2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.
3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.
Parenting Assistance Line: PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.
Recycle: Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
Reward Cards: Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit: Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.
Loyalty Reward Tags: (Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag. Just stop by the main office to pick one up.
