When and Why the Phonograph was Invented:
Other inventors had produced devices that could record sounds, Edison's phonograph was the first to be able to reproduce the recorded sound. His phonograph originally recorded sound onto a tinfoil sheet phonograph cylinder, and could both record and reproduce sounds. The phonograph was invented by the combination of his previous inventions, the telegraph and the telephone.

The phonograph affected the past technology by elimnating or imporving things within the society. The machine was able to read books to the blind which was great convinence to them, they no longer had to find books in brail. The music indusrty was able to take a big leap forwar, by appealing to a wider range of people. Records of pre-recorded music allows people to listen from the comfort of their homes. Education was able to improve because recordings of lessons allow the people to repeat it as many times needed. Also with learning a new language you are able to hear the right pronounciaton.

The phonograph was really the begining of a wide range of invetnions and ideas that we depend on today. The ability to listen to pre-recorded messeges are used in so many things like the, cell phone, computer, any music player like the cd, ipod or iphone and the answering machine. The future invetnion of the CD allowed musicians to bring in more money by getting to people when and where ever they are.Today we use navigation systems and siri who are both pre-recorded voices. Edisons invention of the Phonograph will lead to so many more inventions in the future and society will become more and more dependant on them. Today we use it so much that the future inventions will control most of everything we do.
