The Puma Paw
A Pinebrook community information source
June 10, 2022
Hello Puma Families!
Today, the students learned about the Summer Reading program through the Loudoun County Public Library system. Now, reading is the foundational subject in elementary school. Reading is critical, and I want students to read throughout the summer because it's what's best for them. But did I tell you there's a trophy involved?
Let me be clear. I want Pinebrook to have the reading trophy. We have three bad boy summer reading trophies, but it doesn't seem enough to show reading dominance in the area. The only way to win the trophy is to have the highest percentage of participants sign-up for the LC Public Libary Summer Reading program.
The program starts June 16 and runs until Aug. 22. Parents can participate with the children. Anyone that finishes the reading journey will win a ticket to a Washington Nationals baseball game. The school with the most participants wins the Summer Reading Trophy! Let's do this!

Pumas That Pounce
In my mind, the most fitting Pumas to recognize are first the 5th graders and second the entire community of Pinebrook Elementary.
5th Grade - we are so proud of every one of you. You endured and overcame so many obstacles yet persevered. Take the lessons learned and continue forward as you made it through the most challenging elementary school experience in the history of the world. You did it! You made it! You are amazing! Go out there and knock 'em down!
And the sentiment is the same for our entire community. We've felt so much support, and each spring day has felt closer and closer to the school experience we're all looking forward to having. Our community is heartfelt and generous. We're grateful for the support and love you give our teachers, all in the name of helping our students to become the best version of themselves. Our community will grow next year as we welcome the kindergarteners from the Hovatter attendance area. I believe that we will work together, care about one another, and make the school experience tremendous.

Remember, when you come to school...
- When you come to school, it's essential to be in the habit of three things:
- Make an appointment
- Have your ID;
- Have your phone, especially if you are tardy, picking up, or returning a child to school, as we use an electronic form to record the child's return. You will access the form via a QR code scanned by your phone.
