Principal's Report
A Weekly Update from Perkiomen Valley Middle School East
A Word From Dr. Clune
Dear PV East Parents,
We had an incredible presentation today by Maggie Malone. She is a two-time Olympic athlete who also holds a world record in throwing the javelin. Her message of setting goals in order to be "1% better everyday' was well received by our students. Please ask your child about this engaging assembly.
Congratulations to Mrs. Kate Czapla (7th Gr. Science) on being selected as a 'Climate Superstar Winner' by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF). Mrs. Czapla helped her students get excited about caring for the environment as well as how they can take an active role in caring for its future. She will receive $5,000 in classroom technology from Samsung as a prize. Way to go Mrs. Czapla!
Report cards will be able to view on Tuesday, November 16 at noon in ParentVue.
Sincerely,
Seamus Clune, Ph.D.

One Chip Challenge
We have had several situations where a student participated in the 'One Chip Challenge' at school. This is a single chip that is extremely hot. This chip has resulted in students getting ill and having terrible reactions. These products are currently being sold in area stores. Students should NOT be bringing this chip into school to eat. Please also have a conversation with your child about this unhealthy and unsafe activity.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences are onsite and in-person unless otherwise requested. Please reach out to your teacher directly to specify the desire to have a virtual conference after scheduling your time. At the middle level teams there will be one teacher designated for parents to schedule meetings for the entire team. Please look for an email from your child's team. If you wish a special area teacher or special education teacher to join your team meeting, please email the team and this teacher to request their attendance. If teachers are available they will join the meeting, if not you may schedule a separate meeting with any teacher.
If you do not yet have a ParentVUE account, you will need to create one in order to access the conference scheduling module. To set up your account, please contact the helpdesk@pvsd.org.
Parent Volunteers Needed!
Middle School East is looking for volunteers during lunch periods in our cafeterias, student lounge, and library. No experience is necessary, only requirement is that you have your clearances on file. By having volunteers during lunches it will allow students additional opportunities to visit the library & VR room, go outside (weather permitting) and if they have earned it through our PBIS program visit the student lounge during their lunch period.
Information on obtaining/updating clearances can be found on the district webpage: https://www.pvsd.org/families/volunteer-procedures/
