EDM Unit 3

WE will begin unit 3 in EDM - Measurement. we will be measuring inches and cetimenters to the 1/2 and 1/4. We will also be taking a Mid Year Assessment.

username: firstnamelastinitial46342 password : lunch number. practicing facts with flash cards, online games or timed tests is a great way to learn facts. Mastered facts should be as fluent as recognizing your name.

At Home Facts Practice! Today we will begin taking home 1 sheet of math fact practice every night in addition to our daily homework. On Friday, we will take a timed quiz in class. Those that score 80% or higher on the Friday Quiz will not receive the weekly math packet the following week.

Journey's Unit 3, Lesson 11

Reading: We will be reading an informational text Technology Wins the Game. Our comprehension focus will be sequence of events and text and graphic features.


Spelling/Phonics: Our spelling words this week will review the oi and oy vowel sounds in words. .

Writing: We will finish writing our biography.

Vocabulary/Grammar: We will review suffix -less, -ful, and -ous. Grammar will continue plural nouns.

Weekly Academic Standards

Reading: 3.RN.3.1 Apply knowledge of text features to locate information and gain meaning from text ( mags, illustrations, charts, font). 3.RV.3.2 Determine the meanings of general academic and content-specific words and phrases in a nonfiction text relevant to a third grade topic or subject area.

Spelling: 3.RF.4.5 Know and use more difficult word families when reading unfamiliar words - suffixes.

Writing:3.W.5 Conduct short research on a topic.

3.W.2.1 Write Legibly, leaving space between letters in a word, words, in a sentence, and the edges of the paper.

Math: 3.M.3 Choose and use appropriate units and tools to estimate and measure length, weight, and temperature. Estimate and measure length to 1/4 inch, weight in pounds, and temperature in degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit.
