Innovative Youth Corn Challenge
Prizes for participation in this project include 1st place - $1,000, 2nd place - $500, 3rd place -$250, “Extra Mile” Award $200, CORN Communications Award $200 and $50 for completion of the project. In addition, each team receives a crop scouting kit valued at over $200, plot sign and the opportunity to engage with UNL agronomic professionals through “ask an agronomist” sessions.

New - Rocket Launch Contest
OTOE COUNTY FAIR ROCKET LAUNCH
Online Entry – Due Friday, July 15, 2022
Launch Date: Sunday, July 31, 2022
Time: 8:00am
Where: Syracuse Soccer Fields at 399 W 3rd St. Syracuse, NE
Launch Details:
• Online entry form is due Friday, July 15, 2022
• This activity is open to 4-H members ages 5 – 18.
• Paper tube rockets may only be launched by Clover Kids (ages 5 – 7); 8-18 year old participants will need to conduct a launch using rockets specified in Fairbook Guidelines.
• See the 4-H Otoe County Fairbook for rocket building guidelines.
• 4-H members will launch first, followed by Clover Kids
• 4-H members can only enter one rocket of their choice.
• The 4-H Extension Office will provide a launch pad and the launch controller. You need to bring everything else that you will need for a safe and successful launch/flight: engines, wadding, igniters, plugs, ETC.
• Rockets will be judged on: safety, launching ability, flight, and the recovery process.
• 4-H members are allowed to enter a rocket to be judged in an aerospace class in the County Fair without launching that rocket in this Otoe County Fair activity.
• Bring folding chairs for seating.
• Spectators can NOT help a 4-H member with the launch or recovery process. There will be launch helpers if needed.
• All Clover Kids will receive Clover Kid ribbons. All 4-H members will receive 4-H ribbons.

Otoe County 4-H Foundation Camp Scholarships Available
The Otoe County 4-H Foundation will help Otoe County 4-H members attend 4-H camp! The Foundation will donate $100 or 50% of the camper registration fee, whichever is greater.
This offer is for summer camps at the Nebraska State 4-H Camp near Halsey, camps held by Zoom, camps in a box, UNL BIG RED camp, or UNL Livestock Judging Camp. Contact the Extension Office at 402-269-2301 to register for this camp scholarship BEFORE you register online for the camp. We will provide you with a promotional code and information to register online.
This offer is on a first-come, first-served basis. The 4-H Foundation allocated $5,000 for 4-H camps, call to reserve your camp now! Visit the 4-H Camp website 4h.unl.edu/camps.
