Troop Scoop 4392
January 2015
International Festival
12:00-1:00pm set up
1:00-3:30pm Tour Booths & Cultural Program
3:30-4:00 tear down
It has come to my attention that the 7th grade band students have an music peformance the same day as our event (Yikes!). Thankfully it is earlier in the morning so these girls will still be able to attend. There are 5 girls (Myia, Carly, Taylor, Olivia, & Jessica) who are not affected by this and I would need them to come early to help set up our booth and also aide with checking in troops. The girls coming from the band event, I would like you to stay after and help clean-up. During the booth touring we will split the girls so that half will tour while the other half of the troop works the booth, then switch halfway so everyone gets to experience everything. At around 3:00 we will begin the program. A number of our girls have volunteered to perform a Filipino folk dance, Tinikling. They have been working very hard on learning the steps to this dance. I encourage them to practice at home the routine and to use this video as reference if they need it.
Extra troop meeting dates to prepare for International Festival:
January 29 6:30-7:30pm Dancers & Pole clappers ONLY for dance practice
February 19 6:30-8:00pm EVERYONE- we will make our snack for the event, work on our display board and SWAPs, design t-shirts and whatever loose ends we need to tie up.
Missouri Botanical Garden Field Trip
Leave around 3:30pm, Arrive back around 7:30pm
I have requested the date listed above for our troop to attend the Cadette Trees Badge program offered at MoBot. This 2 hour program is designed to help our girls earn their Trees badge and will also double up to meet some criteria toward completing our Breathe Journey. Keep your fingers crossed that they will be able to accommodate us on Feb. 12. I will send out more information (work out carpooling details, etc.) once the date has been secured. The group price for the program is on sale in February and includes up to 20 Cadettes so I have asked other Cadette troops if they would like to join us... and split the cost to save our troop some money. Tonya and Crystal have offered to help carpool/chaperone (THANK YOU!). I have RSVPs from the following so far: Myia, McKenna, Madison, Lillianna, Jessica, Emily, Carly & Olivia. We will work out the carpooling details when the date gets closer.
There's No Place Like {Neighborhood} Camp
Camp Tuckaho Troy, MO
Registration for camp has been submitted. I want to remind everyone that if you RSVP'd to attend this event but end up not going, you will need to reimburse the registration fee back to the troop (Girls: $20, Adults $10). I volunteered our troop to help with the outdoor cooking station, but we will also participate in fun, planned activities with other Cadette troops. More information regarding camp will be later in March.
