INFORMATION and UPDATES
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is almost here (kick off is October 24th). This is one of the school’s biggest fundraisers and we need volunteers to help plan, set up and work the Fair. If you are interested in helping out please join us at Imagine Coffee, next Tuesday, October 8th at 10:00 for a planning session. We can use your help, no matter how much time you have to donate.
Please contact Shannon Waddell if you are interested in helping out.
OBOB
The week of October 7th, OBOB begins at Adams School! OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) is a state-wide fall/winter event for 3rd - 5th graders. Small student groups are formed to read select books and have 'knowledge battles' in a fun and social way. This week (Oct 7-11) the students will be introduced to OBOB during their library time and have the opportunity to check out an OBOB book and form their teams. Ask your 3rd, 4th or 5th grader if they want to participate! Aside from reading books at home, the entire commitment for OBOB is during school hours. Everyone is welcome. For more information please ask in the office or contact Tracy Erwin, tlerwin1@gmail.com or visit https://www.oregonbattleofthebooks.org/
Pe and Wellness
Students started with warm-up moves in their squad spots: jumps, stretching, planks, push ups, etc....Then they circulated through 8 fitness stations. The last 1/2 of class covered throw and catch skills.
K-2 students used foam balls and primarily tossed to themselves or used the wall as a partner. 3-5 students had the option of using footballs and did more partner passing.
WELLNESS NEWS
October is Kindness Month. The challenge of the week is to smile more. There is a Kindness Wall where students can take a kind note, leave a kind note, or report a kindness done to them
Parents received a quick overview of behavior, movement, and effort expectations at Curriculum Night. At the top of our pyramid is "Adventure:" healthy enough and physically literate enough to enjoy life. Here's a link to the document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-R29XYrBM0ZDIaoiD4zXmiUXLTw22LEQ/view?usp=drivesdk.
Bring in a picture or drawing of your child or your family enjoying life and we'll show each other what "adventure" can look like.
Yoga is M and F. AIM is T, W, Th. We have about 20 students at 10 miles, each sporting the 10 mile bracelet. Two students have reached 20 miles!

Box Tops
Each Box Top clip is worth 10 cents...and they add up! There are now 2 ways to collect and donate Box Tops. Box Tops for Education is going digital, and in the transition they are accepting both clips and scans.
If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.
If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!
