Hello Birmingham Bears!
Our Mapping Your Future Follow-Up day will be next Wednesday, February 21st. Teachers and students really spent a lot of time digging deep into the lessons last Wednesday, although most did not finish the 4th lesson on Achievement. What a great problem to have!! If your child’s booklet did not come home last week, be on the lookout for it to come home on this day.
Next Guidance Rotation:
Kinder and 1st Grade We have started our lessons on staying safe using the WHO Program. A letter describing the WHO program will be sent home on Friday.
2nd Grade – During this last guidance rotation, students were able to “take a look” at their path through Wylie ISD and beyond to college. We looked at pictures and discussed the similarities and differences of each school they will attend in Wylie starting at Birmingham and ending at Wylie East. We also took a quick glance at some different college campuses. You can do this at home with your child by visiting campustours.com.
3rd Grade- In 3rd grade, we discussed grit and perseverance and working hard for your goals and dreams. When working towards that goal we sometimes hit obstacles and have to find a different way around the problem. Ask your child about the fun index card activity we completed!
4th Grade- We are continuing with our career/college research this week. Students will begin researching 3 different careers of their choice after taking a Career Interest Inventory last month. They will research the education it takes for each career, starting salary in Texas, and describe the tasks for each career. Next month we will finish up this lesson with researches on different colleges.
LOST AND FOUND- It is amazing how quickly the Lost and Found fills up! We will be donating any unclaimed items on Friday, February 23rd. Before donating, we always look for names on items, so please make sure you label all coats, jackets, loose clothing items, lunch boxes, etc.
What Else is Coming Up for Wylie Way?
Safety Patrol- BLUE Group Feb 5- Feb 23
Green Group- Feb 26-March 23
Wednesday, February 21- Follow Up Day for Grit and Preparation
March 5-March 8- District College Week- Have those college hats and shirts ready!
Bear love,

A Note From Nurse Abby...
Hey Parents!
February is National Children's Dental Health Month. The American Dental Association recommends children brush 2 times a day with a fluoride toothpaste. Here is a fun chart you can print off and use at home to help your children remember.
Have a great weekend!
Nurse Abby
From the Library…
We have an AUTHOR coming! Chris Barton will be here on February 27 to talk with our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders. He will also be doing a book signing for those that are interested. If you have one of his books, feel free to bring it with you that day. If you do not have one, they sell them on Amazon and are fairly inexpensive. I will attach a few of his most popular titles for smaller children. We are very excited about this experience for you child.
