Halloween/Fall Class Party Information
Monday, October 31st Halloween and Fall Class Parties
Costumes:
Students should wear their costumes to school. For the safety of all students, we ask that costume props not be brought to school as part of student costumes. Also, please remember that our friends are still little so please keep that in mind when purchasing costumes. Many are afraid of monsters and such.
Parade:
Weather permitting, we plan to hold an outdoor parade for parents that begins promptly at 9:15; please do not arrive prior to 8:55 due to student drop off. We will have people directing parents where to park. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold the parade in the gym; parents/visitors would need to enter the gym through Doors 2 and 3 and sign in.
Class Parties:
Class parties will take place immediately following the parade. Should parents wish to send in treat bags, we ask that items are non-edible.
Thank you for assisting us in making this a happy event for everyone!
Student of the Month Program Continues at Reed School
Reed students who demonstrated responsible citizenship throughout September were celebrated in a very special way. Students from each classroom were recognized for their outstanding efforts. Students nominated for this prestigious honor demonstrated the 3 R's in our pledge consistently throughout the month.
For those of you new to Reed School, students recite the following pledge on Mondays during our Morning Announcements. Our pledge helps our friends to start their day on a positive note and providing a focus:
I am proud to be at Reed School.
I promise to be respectful.
I promise to be responsible.
I promise to be peaceful.
Today I will be the best I can be.
Today I will be all three.
Look for lawn signs soon in your neighborhood!

Physical Education News
We have been working on structured games. This helps us work on teamwork and throwing properly. We just started fitness testing as well. The fitness tests that we do are sit and reach, flexed arm hang, curl ups and pacer test. We do not grade the students on how they do on the tests. We grade them on the effort given. This is to help us see what we need to work on during our P.E. classes.
We introduced Mileage Club to the students 2 weeks ago. Students must decide for themselves if they want to do mileage club during recess. They were all given QR codes that are in their lanyards. They have to run/walk 10 laps around our blacktop track to get 1 mile. We have a lot of students that have been doing mileage club everyday. We will give out shoe tokens earned on Mondays. We do not replace lost shoe tokens. They must be responsible for their own shoe tokens.
We have a lot of units coming up that the students will really enjoy. Please remember that we need to have gym shoes on to participate in P.E. If you need to sit out, you need a note. A note from home is good for 2 days and then after that we need a doctor's note. P.E. is a required class. If you have any questions please email us. Happy Fall Y'all!

We have over 100 students signed up for our Reed Family Night Under the Stars on October 19th!!! I look forward to seeing so many of our Reed families for a night of ELA, math, art, music, and P.E. camping themed activities!
Car Rider Reminders...
-Please have your child's personalized car rider name tag visible to staff assisting with traffic; this helps to expedite the dismissal process.
-When pulling into the parking lot for student pick up, please follow the cones and create two lanes of traffic to avoid blocking 143rd Street. You will continue to be directed to one lane as you move toward the front of the line for student pick up.
