Spring 2016

We are moving to Canvas!

In preparation for moving from Blackboard to Canvas we are taking a long hard look at our course and how we can revise it for our new LMS! THANK YOU for participating in the SWOT process and helping us to Rank our Top 10 Needs for Revisions. This SMORE will outline our Next Steps in the Revisions process!

OVERVIEW

When we looked over the SWOT Data and the Rankings from our meeting the majority of the revisions were making sure that notes, assignments and keys all aligned with one another and were in an appropriate standard format. We know that some lessons need this and some do not - so step 1 will be to identify which specific items need to be revised.


We will divide up the course and each one of us will go through 2 lessons and identify needed revisions. As we are going through the course we will also be creating new Lesson Outlines to be placed in the Teacher Resources Folder.


In April we will meet as an eLC and decide how to tackle the things we have identified as needing revision and then complete those revisions.

Step 1: Choose which Lessons you want to Review!

Please choose 2 lessons that you want to look through in detail and sign up in our eLC Spreadsheet!

STEP 2: GO THROUGH EACH LESSON AND IDENTIFY NEEDED REVISIONS

As you look through each lesson specifically look for the following things:

  • Do ALL links and videos work in the lesson?
  • Do the Guided Notes match the Video Notes?
  • Do the Video Notes have what needs to be transposed to the Guided notes highlighted (in a different color) and underlined?
  • Is there a key for each worksheet and does it match what is in the assignments?
  • Are there any other assignments you see that need to be changed to better meet the standard course of study and the needs of our students?
RECORD YOUR OBSERVATIONS IN THE ELC SPREADSHEET

STEP 3: ALSO RECORD NEEDED REVISIONS IN THE COURSE REVISIONS TAB

Please also record specific items that need to be revised in the COURSE REVISIONS TAB.

STEP 4: CREATE a new LESSON OUTLINE

We need to create new outlines for each lesson to be sure they reflect the most recent version of the course! So as you are Reviewing each lesson please create a new Outline for it! Please use the following Template and be sure to save the file as a .doc file or it will not upload to Canvas.

STEP 5: UPLOAD LESSON OUTLINES

Please upload the outline you created to the Revisions Folder in our eLC Resources Folder. Again please be sure that it is a .doc file!

PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR REVIEW AND OUTLINE BY MONDAY APRIL 4th

This will allow us to look through the list we have created and be ready to plan making the actual revisions at our eLC Meeting on Monday April 11th!
