Class by Class

Language Arts:

This week in Language Arts we will continue our study of the Elements of Fiction and Plot. We will begin reading our first short story, The Sound of Summer Running. We will wrap up the week discussing symbolism and leading into our second short story, Eleven. There will not be an article of the week this week, however, be on the lookout for one next week. Students will be expected to have an independent reading book in class every day from this point on now that we have gone to the library. Homework for this week will be reading 30 minutes every night.

Science:

This week we will be asking and answering the question, "Do we really need the moon?". We will review eclipses and tides through our Wednesday wake up. We will finish out the week talking about how Earth's tilt affects the seasons and daylight hours and begin looking at the planets.


Students are allowed to due corrections on Weds. Wake Ups, Quizzes, and Test Corrections for half the credit back


Social Studies:

The Essential Questions for this week are: What was the importance of cave paintings? How can I create my own cave painting? What really happened to Ozti the caveman, and can I use the clues archaeologists have found to help figure out, the thousands year old mystery?

We will be cave painting tomorrow, if the we"cave paint" using chalk. Please dress, either to be outside, or on the gym floor.


Math:


In math, students will take a quiz on dividing decimals on Wednesday of this week. Students will also be introduced to our new interactive textbook, GoMath!
