Panther Pause
20 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
5.12.17
Panthers,
Happy Friday!! Wow, what another great week here at CHHS. We have wrapped a bow on AP testing, and now we are on a collision course with June 1st and our graduation ceremony. This is an exciting time for our seniors that is a culmination of 13 years of hard work, and we want to celebrate that accordingly. In order to do so this year, we are adding an event to our senior experience that we are calling the Graduation Walk. All of our seniors will load up on buses on the morning of May 22 wearing their cap and gown, and we will take them to their elementary school. They will be greeted there by an entire school of excited elementary students -- this event is meant to help our students remember how far they have come and help fill them with PRIDE about being a Panther!!
Last night I had the opportunity to travel to Wichita Falls to watch a fantastic baseball game where our boys came out victorious by a score of 3-0. As I sat there in a PACKED baseball stadium, it reminded me that they will be traveling to CHHS for a game tonight at 7pm, and we need to have a big crowd and cheer on our guys as they push toward a state championship. I look forward to seeing everyone there tonight and GO PANTHERS!!

Student Voice
One thing I enjoy about Colleyville Heritage High School is the softball program here. I look forward to attending softball class everyday, because I get to end my school day by playing the sport I love with my incredible teammates and coaches. We had an amazing season this year and won the title of Bi-District Champs for the first time since 2008, and even beat the reigning state champs during our 13-3 district season. The coaching staff here is like no other, and each of our coaches has influenced me and taught me in ways that I could never thank them enough for. Our motto this year was "Band of Sisters," which I think suits our team very well, because I feel at home while we're at practice and my teammates really do feel like family to me. I can't wait to see what we can bring into our 2018 season!
Another reason that I enjoy attending Colleyville Heritage High School is because of the support that the teachers and administrators give to the student body. Mr. Peters and Dr. Groppel attended nearly every single one of our softball games this year, even when it required traveling up to an hour away. I felt honored every morning after a big win, walking into school and being congratulated by many of my teachers. The encouragement I have received has helped me and our whole team to succeed, and I couldn't ask for a better educational environment than the one here at Colleyville Heritage.

WARRIOR WEEK FUNDRAISER MAY 15-19
15 percent of Vitality Bowl sales go to CHHS!
CHHS is trying to raise $4,000 to replace the two mascot costumes for Babs and Buster, which are 20 years old. If we can raise $4,000 amount, the Thompson family will not need to pay to replace Buster's costume and we can simply donate the older Buster costume to them, while purchasing new ones for CHHS to use for another 10-20 years.
CHHS is partnering with Jason Ridley of Nationwide Insurance and Anita Etta, owner of Vitality Bowls Superfood Cafe to sponsor a “Warrior Week” fundraiser. From Monday, May 15, to Friday, May 15, from 5-7 p.m., Vitality Bowls will donate 15 percent of sales toward the purchase of new costumes. Jason Ridley will match the funds donated by Vitality Bowl up to $1,000. Tell Vitality Bowls that you are there to support the Warrior Week fundraiser.
Vitality Bowls is a new business at 5615 Colleyville Blvd., directly behind Costa Vida at Hall-Johnson and Hwy. 26. Come in and try their delicious “Warrior Bowl” which has a creamy base of blended organic acai, almond milk, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, flax seed, broccoli and multi-vitamin booster, topped with organic granola, bananas, strawberries, almonds, goji berries and honey. Vitality Bowls specialize in healthy meals featuring “super foods.” They offer smoothies, a juice bar, panini, salads and soups.
For information about the fundraiser, how to sponsor a costume or donate money directly toward the purchase, contact Robyn Schmidt at krkcschmidt@gmail.com. Checks can be written to CHHS (with Mascot Costume in the subject line). See Vitality Bowl’s menu.

ACCEPTED Wall
Exciting New Endeavor! CHHS PTSA is collaborating with CHHS AVID to create a space on our campus that will showcase the accomplishments of our CHHS seniors and where they have been accepted to college. It will be called an ACCEPTED Wall. The purpose of the ACCEPTED Wall is to highlight exceptional college campuses all over the United States and beyond, and to start a conversation about how and why to choose a school of higher learning.
Here is how students and parents can help:
1. We would like pennants from colleges that you visit. While you are on a tour, pick up a pennant to donate. They can be dropped at the CHHS office beginning Tuesday, January 17th .
2. When you receive acceptance confirmation and decide on a college, scan your letter and send it Dawn Treese at dawn@treese.org. These will be framed and hung on the ACCEPTED Wall.
Questions? Contact Dawn Treese at dawn@treese.org
