Garage Band tutorial 1: getting started
Create a folder on your DESKTOP
Name the folder "music"
you will save all your music here
GBand- you will hit "save as"_ yourname and project number
Where: you will put this folder on your desktop
GarageBand
Starting in GarageBand
You may need to find GBand in your finder and pull it down to your dock. Remember to look in "applications" when doing so.
Project 1:
Select "New Project"
when doing this you will see a series of instruments
Select "Piano"
Keyboard Collection
Save as: yourname
Remember to change WHERE: to the folder YOU created on your desktop "music"
*must be changed* do not leave the default option*
Find "Track"
This is located on the top of your screen.
Hit "delete track"
this will clear your screen
TOP Right
you will find your instruments button & the loop button.
To Save:
Hit Share
Export to disk
*check name of file- check where the file is saving to
*change to MP3
Hit export
Make sure it saves in the "music" folder you created on your desktop
Project 2:
Create a NEW project
File-New
On start up screen
click NEW!
HipHop
Project 2-Using LOOPS
Save as:
Name your project: "yourname2"
File
Be sure to put your projects in the correct folder!
Time
Change "measure" to "TIME"
CLICK the icon to change the option
To Save-Share
Hit Share
Export to disk
*check name of file- check where the file is saving to
*change to MP3
Hit export
Make sure it saves in the "music" folder you created on your desktop
Project 3:
New Project
Empty Project
When project opens Choose "Software"
This will give you the typing keyboard
Save as your name
Remember to change "WHERE" to music folder
Your Song will be graded on the following:
Save-Share
Hit Share
Export to disk
*check name of file- check where the file is saving to
*change to MP3
Hit export
Make sure it saves in the "music" folder you created on your desktop
Tips for Garageband
TURN IN FOLDER!
Make sure your "MUSIC" folder has ALL three "M4A" files. Do no turn in the projects (grey box) only put the m4a files (white rectangle with red music note) into the folder "music" you created on your desktop. You will upload the folder on google classroom and then turn in.
