Year 3 Newsletter
Spring has sprung!
New students
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the new term - it's been a really busy start for us all!
This term we welcome Alma into Year 3 - all the way from Denmark!
Cinderella and Rockerfella
Book week is coming - we need your support!
Below are a number of activities you and your child might like to participate in…
Book swap
Children can bring in ONE story book that they no longer want/have outgrown to swap for one that they do! Books must be in good ‘swapable’ condition, please! Please note that we cannot accept baby board books, sticker books, comics or colouring books. Story/information books only please! We will be swapping with children from Year 3 and 4, so please consider whether the book is suitable for a 7 - 9 year old.
**All books can be given to your child’s class teacher, we have a collection already started in our Year 3 rooms.
All books must be in by Monday 2 February
Customised-reading
Children to take photos of themselves reading a book in a place that matches the content of their book! For example, a picture of your child reading Charlie & the Chocolate Factory eating chocolate or reading Dear Zoo at the zoo!
**All photos can be emailed to
karen.bintcliffe@britishschool.nl or
felicity.macdonald@britishschool.nl
All photos must sent in by Monday 2 February
Read a story in your mother-tongue
Parents who would like to share a story in another language or from their culture are welcome to read to a class during Book Week. Please email claire.scott@britishschool.nl to arrange a time and class or alternatively, speak to Mr Pilling or Miss Allen if you'd prefer to just read to our Year 3 group.
Please contact Ms Scott before Monday 2 February
Tweet-a-book
Children/parents who would like to share book reviews/titles/extracts they’ve read during Book Week to a daily ‘feed’ displayed on the board in the Atrium can email them directly to craig.mcneil@britishschool.nl or write their ‘tweet’ and post it in the postbox. There will be a postbox in the Atrium all week. Tweets must be no more than 140 characters.
Monday 9 – Friday 13 February
