Carnival
For the first time in more than 20 years, there will be a carnival at the Pawnee County Fair.
Discount advance armband tickets good for one night ($15) or Mega Passes good for all 3 nights ($40) will be sold beginning May 1st at Union Bank & Trust, FirstBank of Nebraska-Burchard, The Bank of Steinauer, Pawnee City School, and State Bank of Table Rock branches (Pawnee City, Table Rock, DuBois, Humboldt & Tecumseh). Armband times are 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM nightly.
Summer Clinics
4-H Clover Chase: A Nebraska 150 Event
Nebraska 4-H, in partnership with the Nebraska 4-H Foundation, is celebrating the Nebraska Statehood 150 with the 4-H Clover Chase!
Between March 1 - August 15, 2017, Nebraska 4-H will be hosting a photo scavenger hunt for all 4-H members. Using an app, participants will complete challenges and submit photo entries on social media using #NE4HChase. After submitting photos and earning 150 points, participants will be eligible to receive a commemorative water bottle from their local Nebraska Extension Office and will be entered into a drawing to win a drone with video capability. The Nebraska Extension Office with the highest percentage of participation wins a free National Youth Science Day kit!

Sheep & Goat Tagging Day
- 4-Her’s participating in goat or sheep projects must bring their market animals in for weight and tagging on Wednesday, June 7th from 5pm to 6:30 pm at the fairgrounds.
- Breeding animals may be also be brought to be tagged or a tag may be picked up from the office to tag the at home.
- Dairy goats do not need to be tagged.
Livestock Quality Assurance
- You will use your FAMILY 4HOnline login and password information to access the courses for the ACTIVE youth in your family.
- Only ACTIVE members will show in the drop down menu for access to the course.
- All 4-Hers need to use the 4-H tab and not the FFA tab even if they are members of both organizations.
The program costs $12 per youth, the 4-H Foundation will be purchasing a coupon code to cover the whole cost of the class. Contact the Extension Office for the code.
The YQCAdeadline for all 4-Hers is June 15, so please plan ahead and contact the Extension Office with any questions. After completing the modules, drop off or email your certifications.

All Horse ID’s for District and State entries and Level Testing are required for participation in the 2016 District 4H Horse Shows. IDs and Level Testing be completed by May 1. Deadline for District and State Horse Show is May 8.

An Eye for Design

Open to Clover Kids (5-7), Cost $10
A “complement”(-ary color) goes a long way! At this workshop youth will explore colors while creating a unique 4-H Clover wall hanging and decorate their own t-shirts by splattering paint! Don’t forget to send a solid colored shirt of any color with the Clover Kid for this workshop.
Around the World in 2 Hours

Are you ready for your next trip? At this workshop youth will travel the globe, explore new cultures, and create fun items from each place they visit.

Babysitting Basics

Open to 4-H’er (8-18), Cost $15
Create your babysitting kit to carry with you while learning the Do’s and Don’ts of basic babysitting. Project eligible for fair in I Have What it takes to be a Babysitter.
Culinary Challenge
June 1, 1-3pm Union Bank Basement in Pawnee City
Open to 4-H’er (8-18), Cost $5
Your meal is served! At this workshop youth will gain knowledge meal planning, nutrition, and food safety along with table setting. The workshop focused on preparing youth for the Culinary Challenge (formerly Food Revue) scheduled for July 15.
Financial Frenzy
June 5, 1-3pm Club House at the Fairgrounds in Pawnee City
Open to 4-H’er (8-18), Cost $15
Explore the financial world through terms and case scenarios, while building a game/poster/display board highlighting key terms. Project eligible for fair in My Financial Future.
Fairy Garden
June 26, 1-3pm Ag Building in Humboldt
Open to 4-H’er (8-18), Cost $15
Use your imagination to create a miniature garden prefect for fairies and other small creatures! Miniature gardens are a fun way to be creative and garden at the same time. Youth will learn how to design and build a miniature garden. Bring a shallow container that is no greater than 12 inches in diameter, preferably with a drainage hole, and whatever accents to put into the “scene” of your miniature garden. Cost includes 2-3 fairy garden plants, soil, and gravel for the containers. At the end of the workshop, youth will learn about how to prepare their vegetables and flowers for fair. Contact the office if you would be willing to help carpool to Humboldt.
Wildlife Adventures
July 17, 1-4pm Club House at the Fairgrounds in Pawnee City
Open to 4-H’er (8-18), Cost $15
Learn how to identify wildlife by their different tracks and create plaster track imprints. Project eligible for fair in Wildlife.
Other Summer Opportunities
Craft Time
Thursday in June-July, 2-3pm Pawnee City Library
Open to Community Members (5-18), Cost FREE
4-H will be offering crafts at the Pawnee City Library. Group size is limited to the first 12 youth on a first come, first serve basis. Crafts completed with be eligible for entry into the County Fair. Contact the library for more information (852-2218). Clover Kids are welcome to attend with an adult or older teen to help with the craft.
Makers Fest
June 28, 1-3pm Pawnee City Library
Open to Community Members (12-18), Cost FREE
Maker Fest is a celebration of making and sharing. During the afternoon, youth will be able to be artists, crafters, performers, tinkerers, and technologists as they complete fun challenges.Static Challenge

Archery
Josh Black will be offering a spring/summer archery spin club with the potential of partnering with Richardson county or offer a Pawnee county archery contest later in the summer.
This program is open to all youth ages 10 and older who are enrolled in 4H. Practices will be held on Wednesdays (weather permitting) from 6-7pm on the fairgrounds by the horse arena.
Families are asked to have one adult or older teen stay during the weekly practices. The Extension Office has bows and arrows available for youth to use if they don't have their own. If you are interested in participating please contact Josh Black at 402-312-4296 via text or call.
Farm Service Agency Loan
The Farm Service Agency makes operating loans of up to $5,000 to eligible individual rural youth age 10-20 to finance income-producing agriculture-related projects. The project must be of modest size, educational, and initiated, developed and carried out by youth participating in 4-H clubs, FFA or similar organizations. Loan funds may be used to buy livestock, seed, equipment and supplies and it also can be used to pay operating expenses for the project. For more information please contact the Farm Service Agency.
