Alliances are agreements among countries to each other in War. The alliances in WWI were Austria-Hungary, Italy, and Germany(Triple Alliance). France, Russia, and Great Britain made up the Triple Entente. The United States would soon be in war on the Triple Alliance. Alliances lead to war when countries begin to defend their allies.

Nationalism is having pride for your country and willing to defend it. Countries in Europe were very proud of them selves. They would defend their country as well as they could. This is also an example of Nationalism.
WWI
WWI was a really bloody war, but fighting is not the only thing that caused death. An influenza epidemic killed many soldiers, nurses, and medics in 1917!
