RMS Wildcat Weekly
December 13, 2019 Information for our Families
Happy Friday!
First, I want to congratulate and thank our choir for a stellar Winter Choral Concert last Wednesday! All of us in attendance were so impressed by the level of performance of our students, and we loved seeing them have this opportunity to shine by sharing the gift of music. Thank you to our Choral Director Mrs. Inouye for her talent and commitment! All students also attended assemblies on Thursday and saw amazing performances from our Band and Choir. Such a wonderful holiday gift! I also want to thank the parents who came to our Coffee with the Principal this week and who brought delicious treats. We had a great update from counseling and from our Artful Learning Coordinator Ms. Turner, and thanks to Ms. Gabby, our community liaison, we enjoyed a great potluck breakfast! Our next Coffee with the Principal will be on February 12, 2020.
Artful Learning Highlight- 7th Grade Science
Our 7th grade Science students were given an Artful Learning Design Challenge as part of their interdisciplinary unit on “Transformation.” The significant question for this unit is “How does transformation occur and what is its impact?” Students are exploring this concept and question through inquiry centers in their classes. In this Science design challenge, students are creating solutions for the plastic pollution problems that they have been studying. In the next phase of this project, students will choose the method they would like to use to communicate their solutions to the world. They can choose to enter an art competition, use social media, create a website, or create a Youtube video to raise awareness about issues related to plastic pollution and to share their creative solutions.
