Kindergarten Class News
March 18-22, 2019
Language Arts
Of course we continued to work on rhyming and counting syllables this week. Making and revising predictions was our story skill and we put that to work as we read "Bear Snores On" (we also pointed out the rhyming words in this one!) and an African fable about Anasi the spider. The students completed their Unit 7 assessment today and have made great improvements in their phonemic awareness and phonics skills!
Math
We completed our subtraction unit assessment on Wednesday and began our measurement unit on Thursday! The students enjoyed comparing classroom objects by size and length and were able to work on ordering items by length today. These skills were also practiced on IXL and we worked on addition and subtraction facts on Reflex as well. Usernames and passwords for Reflex were sent home with each student. This is a super fun app that really improves math fact fluency. If you're able to to download it on a device at home, please do!
Social Studies
I posted a video of Miss S's social skills lesson on trust on our Class Dojo Story. Please check it out if you haven't already. It was a great visual to help kids learn about the importance of trust! The kids have also been enjoying our Junior Achievement classes with Dr. Digre. He has been teaching us all about making choices, earning and saving money, and needs and wants. Next Thursday will be our last session with him.
