CASH BASH IS COMING SOON! GET YOUR TICKETS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL OFFICE!

The 6th annual Golden Cash Bash will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Gene Davis & Sons Banquet & Convention Center. The cost is $80 per ticket, and each ticket will admit two people. Tickets are available for purchase in the high school office.

NEW DRILL-MEDICAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL, MERT DRILL

The Columbia Central staff has received training to respond appropriately to medical emergencies. In addition, school staff are trained in CPR, Hands Only CPR and the use of our AED. Among our staff is a Medical Emergency Response Team, MERT, who will lead in these situations. On Monday, February 3, will hold our first MERT Drill with students and staff to practice our emergency response procedures. Please contact the office with any questions.

WHAT IS PACT EMPLOYABILITY

Students in grades 9-12 are NOW receiving a PACT Employability score. Please review the following information about this new program in Jackson County.

CREDIT RECOVERY

If your child needs to make up a class or credit, please have them meet with Mrs. Diefenthaler as soon as possible. Our credit recovery class has started and she will help students enroll.

SATURDAY SCHOOL

Saturday School sessions for the remainder of the school year are listed below. The sessions run from 8-11 AM in the library. 7-12 grade students are invited to attend.

Get your tickets for the After Prom FUNDRAISER!

After Prom is selling raffle tickets to be entered into a drawing to win two stadium chairs, one soft throw and one Columbia beanie (all items have an embroidered eagle logo) for $10 apiece. In addition, the drawing will give you a chance to win gift cards from local restaurants. The money will go towards funding the after-prom event for the JR/SR prom this May! Who is ready to purchase a raffle ticket?


Venmo or cash accepted, need not be present to win. Winners will be announced Friday, February 21st at the CCHS Winterfest basketball game.

WE ARE IN NEED OF DONATED GIFTS FOR THE AFTER PROM EVENT!

Prom and After Prom will be held on May 9. Every Senior will receive a prize at the event. The After Prom committee is in NEED of donated items to give to seniors for these gifts. All items can be brought to the high school office. Thank you for your support! Examples may include:

SPREAD VALENTINE'S CHEER!

CCHS students..Have you noticed any ‘love’ floating around? The CCHS Student Senate has chosen random lockers and decorated them with hearts for Valentine’s Day. If you have someone you want to surprise this Valentine’s Day season, you can pay $3 to have their locker decked out. Make sure to fill out a form in the high school office and give it to the secretaries. All proceeds will go towards Student Senate in funding Cedar Point for the Eagle Pride winners.

REMINDER ABOUT ELECTRONIC DEVICE SCHOOL POLICY

We would like to remind all parents CELL PHONES, HEADPHONES, AIR PODS, ETC. ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOM during the school day! Cell phones, headphones, air pods, etc. may be used before school, after school, and during lunches. Thank you for your support!

Parent Meeting for Clay Shooting

All 7-12 grade students are invited to participate on our Columbia Central Trap Shooting team. There is a sign up list in the high school office. Please attend a parent meeting on February 12 from 6-7 PM to learn more information about participating on the team.

Attention PARENT OF THE JUNIOR CLASS...

Job shadowing for juniors takes place on April 23. In preparation for this event, please discuss with your child possible careers and locations in the local area they may be interested in visiting. Job Shadowing gives students an opportunity to have a hands on experience and learn about the career area.

Please encourage your Senior to apply for scholarships. There are many available both locally and nationally. Scholarships are a wonderful way to support your student financially as they pursue their post-secondary educational goals.

Athletic UPDATE

Bowling-Currently our boys team is tied for first place in the LCAA Conference. Both boys and girls compete in the LCAA Jamboree today at 4 PM. It is home at Brooklyn Lanes.

Cheer-CCHS Competitive Cheer broke a score of 700, the highest score in six year at the Michigan Center Tournament! They have two home meets next week on Wednesday and Friday!

Girls Basketball-The Golden Eagles are currently ranked 9th in the state and first in the LCAA Conference.

Boys Basketball-The team had a great win against Hudson Thursday night and it was their third LCAA victory!

Wrestling-The team finished the LCAA Conference season with a winning record of 4 wins and 3 losses. Good luck to Mercaydeez Scott who is competing in the Women’s State Tournament at Adrian College on Sunday!

Junior High Play

The Columbia Central Junior High School will be held May 1, 2, and 3. Information about auditions will be announced next week! Stay tuned for more information.

SPELLING BEE WINNERS!

Congratulations to Xavier Mayer and Caden Alexander for being the winner and runner up for the 7th-grade spelling bee and Savannah Cushman for winning the 8th-grade bee! All will go to the regional spelling bee at Western Performing Arts Center on March 11th. The runner up will compete if the winner does not show.

Baseball/Softball Sign-Ups

There are sign-up sheets outside of the junior high office for any student that would like to join the 7th and 8th-grade softball and baseball teams. This is a new sport offering for junior high students. We are working hard with the CAYL to make sure students are able to be in both leagues this year.
