Join us to explore the many possibilities for off-campus study in the United States and abroad. This is your chance to talk with representatives of Knox programs and many pre-approved programs, to pick up program materials, and to explore off-campus study opportunities that match your interests.
Programs represented at the fair include Knox, ACM, Carleton-Antioch, CIEE, College Year in Athens, DIS, FIE (London), HECUA, IES, ISDSI (Thailand), the Knox-Flensburg Exchange (Germany), the Knox Japan Study programs (including the exchange programs with Akita International University and Kansai Gaidai University as well as the GLCA/ACM Japan Study program), SFS, SEASemester, and SIT.

Zazen, Zen Buddhist Meditation Practice

"Zazen means ‘sitting meditation’. It is being oneself, with nothing extra, in harmony with the way things are. It is the simple practice of looking directly at life as it is." All are welcome: experienced or first time. Any one who'd like to practice silent meditation is welcome. Learn more about Zazen in the Soto Zen tradition. Please wear modest loose fitting clothing. We have zafus (cushions). Come a little early if you'd like instructions.

Learning from the Lessons of the Past: Maury Klein '60

Klein will lead an interactive program on how our country's history has defined who we are, and how the worst moments of that history can repeat themselves if we fail to learn from previous mistakes.
Klein is the author of 18 books on 19th century American history, the stock market crash of 1929, and the American railroad industry. He has also written essays, book reviews, and many articles for publications ranging from scholarly journals to Sports Illustrated.
Klein's visit is part of Knox's Professional in Residence Series, which brings alumni from around the world back to campus to offer insights and advice to help students discover their passions and launch meaningful careers. Other planned events with Klein include a coffee talk for history students and faculty, a "How Knox Influenced my Life" luncheon for all students and faculty, and office hours with students. Gaia and Genji: Gender and Sexuality in the East and West is a cross-disciplinary colloquium organized by Hilary Lehmann, classics, and Otilia Milutin, Asian Studies. There will be three panels covering the topics of gender and cosmology, masculine homosexual pedagogy, and female spaces.
Presenters include Knox and Monmouth faculty and Knox students from a variety of departments. The panels will be followed by a keynote address by Paola Zamperini, associate professor of Chinese Literature from Northwestern University.

Nova Singers, under the direction of Dr. Laura Lane, opens their 2017-18 season with two performances of Today I Will __________. Saturday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Kresge Recital Hall, Knox College, 500 S. Prairie Street, Galesburg, and Sunday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2136 Brady Street, Davenport.
They say every journey begins with a single step. Even in these challenging times, we can all take steps to positively impact the world around us. Featuring inspirational songs such as River by Joan Szymko and Caroline Shaw’s Pulitzer Prize winning Passacaglia, this program hopes to inspire you to reflect, dream big and empower yourself by vowing “Today I will _________!”
