Mrs. Hladun's Tidings

There are not enough thanks we can offer to our families, our PTC, our APEX athletes, our teachers and staff and Mrs. Brothers for making our APEX fun run a huge success this spring! Our children loved interacting with Nate the Great, DJ JJ, the Flash, and Wonder Woman over the last two weeks and learning new skills and language that help us be APEX STRONG!

We were amazed at the number of families who came out to support our fun run and cheer the kids on last week. Thank you for taking time out of your day! Big thanks to our PTC and especially to Mrs. Brothers for coordinating all the behind the scenes activities that made this big event a big success!

Our PTC will be working with APEX to finalize our fundraiser total early this week - stay tuned for the final figure, but it's looking like we may exceed our fundraising from last year - way to go COLTS! Our plan is to make purchases to support our technology and school safety initiatives with the funds raised! Watch for details on how we put those funds to great use!

Spring Picture Day - Tuesday, 3/19, Rain or Shine!

Outdoor Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19th, 2019!

Rain or Shine, we will be there! If there is rain, we will photograph indoors on a high-key white background.

Just fill out the "opt in" form (click here for the opt in form) and send with your child on picture day. You'll be able to order pictures after they are taken, but here is the spring picture form so you can preview the options for packages.

Helping Students Manage Stress

Our staff has noticed an uptick in students who express feeling stressed or anxious. One great way to help students manage their stress and/or anxiety is to help them practice deep breathing (here are some resources to make it fun!), and to give them a little physical relaxation break. Here is a fun tool you can use at home - roll a die to see what kind of physical break you get to enjoy before digging back into the hard work of growing up!

Remember that gonoodle.com is a fun and free way to get some guided meditation, guided deep breathing exercises and even some yoga! Fun for the whole family!

Big picture

Fly away to Neverland with Peter and the Darling children in this adaptation of Disney's beloved animated film. Based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie's enchanting play, Disney's Peter Pan JR. is a modern version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn't grow up...

The LCES Musical Theater, directed by Mrs. Adams and Mr. Coleman, are excited to announce that our production of Peter Pan, Jr. will be taking place on Thursday, 4/11 at 5:30 pm and 7 pm in the LCES Multipurpose Room. Tickets are $1 in advance and $2 at the door. You can purchase tickets in the LCES front office using this order form. We look forward to celebrating the magic of the theater with you!
