5600 - STUDENT DISCIPLINE
As provided in Policy 5600 and the Code of Student Conduct (Code), students are responsible for their own behavior, conduct, and the consequences of their actions. Therefore, students are responsible for the following procedures:
A. They must report to school authorities any problem, circumstance, or condition, including, but not limited to, illegal, dangerous, or unsafe behaviors involving themselves or others, which affect, in any way, their health, safety and/or security or the health, safety and/or security of others whether on or off campus.
B. They must not ignore what they have seen, experienced, or witnessed and should adhere to the message: "See it, Say it, Don't spread it, Report it!"
Student Council
The make-up of Student Council will include the following: elected officers and assigned members that will work with them. The officers will be directly responsible for the actions of the Student Council and will answer directly to the facilitator (Ms. Cashion). The Student Council will, in conjunction with the facilitator, carry out duties adopted and/or assigned. The goal of the Student Council is to serve Pine Ridge Middle School’s student body. If a student is appointed to a position, please understand that Student Council will require some commitments including before school and/or after school.
Though appointed students may will be responsible for planning events and fostering school spirit, much of what student council is about is looking within and learning leadership skills. Student Council strives to develop personal leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics. It seeks to foster in students a better understanding of themselves and their capacity for leadership; to create an understanding of the importance of leadership in a democratic society and to prepare students to assume leadership roles in the school and community. The Student Council may also plan many school-wide activities throughout the year, including but not limited to: spirit weeks, pep assemblies, annual food drive, charity fundraisers, community service, teacher appreciation.
Completed applications need to be submitted to Ms. Cashion in Rm. 205 or turned in to the front office by Monday, August 30th. If accepted, the first meeting will be Wednesday, September 1st at 8:20am in Rm. 205. Please see Ms. Cashion with any questions you may have.
