Should kids play football?

introDUCTION (I capitalized DUCTION because I think I'll get a deDUCTION on this smore)

It's that time where everyone brings out their shirts for their favorite team, some even dream of joining a real football team. But, are they willing to face the consequences that follow this beloved game. There is a very serious problem about football and that is the safety of it, most professional football players won't let their kids play it because it really is just that dangerous as said by Lori Cook, "part of the spike is likely due to increased surveillance and awareness, it still outlines a major problem in youth sports, says Lori Cook, director of the Pediatric Brain Injury Programs at the University of Texas–Dallas's Center for Brain Health. “Head injury is an obvious risk of kids playing football,” she says. Between 2001 and 2009, the most recent years of CDC data, football sent about 25,376 kids under age 19 to the emergency room for traumatic brain injury each year, which was second only to bicycling." While football is a beloved sport by Americans, people should think twice before they decide to join a team.

body paragraph OF DOOM (not really it's just the only good one)

Football can cause one of the worst preventable injuries ever, a concussion. A concussion is an injury that is, without a doubt, a very painful experience that most people never want to go through or experience again. Not only that but repeated concussions are a completely different story, “A single concussion, if treated properly , will likely heal without any long-term effects. Repeated concussions are another story” A concussion is when you literally damage the soft tissue of the brain, if you repeatedly hit the same spot on a piece of paper over and over with a pencil it'll eventually rip, it's kinda like that for the brain. It was also said in "US:News Amir Khan", "Between 1997 and 2007, the number of emergency department visits for concussions doubled between 8 and 13 year olds and tripled for older youth, according to the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association. While part of the spike is likely due to increased surveillance and awareness, it still outlines a major problem in youth sports, says Lori Cook, director of the Pediatric Brain Injury Programs at the University of Texas–Dallas's Center for BrainHealth. “Head injury is an obvious risk of kids playing football,” she says. Between 2001 and 2009, the most recent years of CDC data, football sent about 25,376 kids under age 19 to the emergency room for traumatic brain injury each year, which was second only to bicycling.” The fact that football causes this many concussions a year already seems intimidating but when professional football players don't want their children to be playing football because it's just that dangerous as said in scope magazine, "Several NFL players have stated that the game is so risky they wouldn’t let their own kids play" if professionals don't let their own kids play it, it's obvious that the sport really is that dangerous for kids and adults alike.

CONclusion on why CONcussion are so danger, we really should be more self CONscious (that last one made no sense I'm so sorry)

In the end it’s as clear as day that football really is the dream sport for some people but people should really think twice before they decide to play the dream sport. Football programs are working everyday to make football safer and safer but we’ll probably never get rid of the problem of concussions. While other sports have problems too, football clearly leads the team. This doesn’t mean that you have to give up on the dream, but be more careful about the dream because it really is a deadly one.
