Aiming to Keep You Informed
May 10, 2019
From the Office
We had an exciting week filled with extra-curricular activities. On Monday, the Band and Choir programs treated our students and staff to a morning performance. On Tuesday, our Track team was finally able to get some competition, by joining the track meet between Peacock, Medinah and Wood Dale. On Wednesday, Student Council members visited Feed My Starving Children to assist with packing meals for needy families around the world. On Thursday and Friday, our 8th graders met with the Lake Park Librarian as part of their transition to High school.
Teacher Appreciation week
We would like to thank the PTO for the fabulous treats provided to our staff this week! It was a wonderful demonstration of how much support we have in the community!!
5th to 6th Grade Transition
Today, we visited with 5th graders at both DuJardin and Erickson. We enjoyed meeting our future Warriors and hope to see all of the 5th grade students again with their parents on Monday, May 13th for Transition Night, starting at 7:00pm in the Westfield Gym.
Innovation Night - Thursday, 5/16 at 6:30pm
Innovation Night is almost here! On Thursday, May 16th from 6:30 - 7:15pm at Westfield all parents and relatives are invited to join us for our 1st Innovation Night. Students will be presenting their projects in a fair-like setting, which will allow parents to visit as many student tables as possible. Students should plan to be here at 6:15 to check on final set-ups. Parents and other visitors will be able to wait in the Gym and Commons as they arrive prior to 6:30. The Book Fair and the Hidden in Plain Sight drug awareness trailer will both be on site and available to parents on Innovation Night. We hope to see you Thursday night!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Attention Parents of 8th Graders: Just a reminder about 9th grade physicals
The Illinois State Board of Education in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Public Health require that all students entering 9th grade show proof of receiving mandated vaccinations, in addition to receiving a physical exam, and a dental exam. Please make certain that your child receives the required immunizations and that they are recorded on his/her immunization record. These completed requirements (vaccinations, physical exam, and dental exam) will ensure that your student will be ready to start high school in the fall of 2019.
The physical examination must be recorded on the Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination form and dated within one year of the first day of school attendance for the 2019-2020 school year. (This form may be used in lieu of a sports physical form, but a sports physical form may not be used for the 9th grade mandated physical!) Physicians have the mandated form in their offices.
Please be aware that physicians’ offices are often busy during the summer months; be certain to book your appointment early!
