What's Happening week of December 3, 2018
Blizzard Bags
Blizzard Bags- This is a reminder that we utilize Blizzard Bags during the winter months to reduce the number of days that need to be made up at the end of the school year and to keep our students consistently learning and reinforcing their skills. That being said, we all enjoy a good snow day off! The first THREE (3) snow days- are just that- SNOW DAYS that we will make up at the end of the year. Should Mother Nature bless us with more than 3 snow days, the Blizzard Bags will go into effect.
Students will be provided with Blizzard Bag work to have at home in the event of a snow day. Our goal is to always have work for 2 days at home in the event of a double snow day off. Younger students will have actual Blizzard Bags filled with work that can be completed at home, older kids may have some physical work as well as online work and assignments to complete. Students have a week from the snow day to turn in their assignments- that provides some flexibility for those that one to take the opportunity to hit the slopes or maybe help their child finish the assignments over the weekend. There's also no rule that assignments sent home before the snow day cannot be completed early!!! Just remember to turn it in when it is due!
Please check in with your child's teacher if you have any questions and be on the look out for those Blizzard Bags to come home in the next two weeks.
Kidz Korner Gift Shoppe is coming!
Gift prices range from $1.00 to $10.00, with most items under $6.00. You get to decide who your child is buying for and their price range. Gift Guide envelopes will be coming home that you can fill out with your child.
The shop will be open the week of December 3rd (similar to the Book Fair). Students with $$ will be able to shop each morning and all students will be invited on Monday to 'preview' the Shoppe as well.
Each gift will be sent home in it's own little gift bag including a to/from label- ready to put under the tree!
We look forward to being part of your child's Christmas shopping experience!
Mr. Montouri is Retiring!
We ask anyone who would like to send their love and best wishes to Mr. Mountouri to send them into the school before December 17th. We will put together a beautiful collection of gifts and sentiments for him to be given to him that week to celebrate his service.

Service- It's one of the pillars of our Catholic Education
Socks for Santa
We’d love to have ALL of our students participate in this fulfilling service project by donating at least 4 pair of socks. Our goal is to DOUBLE the amount we collected last year…. 1000 socks! That’s a lot of socks but I know our students are up for the challenge. This is the perfect way to be in service to others and supporting those in need at our local homeless shelters, women’s shelters and the elderly of our community.
Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead.
A small package of socks or underwear each month is a small price to pay for knowing that the elderly in our neighborhoods are going to be warm this winter.
Thank You from the third grade students of St. Anna Catholic School
Last Call to donate for our VETERANS
Hearts for Heat
Thank you to everyone that baked, shopped and ate the baked goods from Hearts for Heat! We raised $689. Thank you to Matthew 25 for their $100 donation. Our $789 was matched by an anonymous donor for a total of $1378 to help our Parishioners in need of heating oil this winter.
Scrips Gift Card Program
The St. Anna PTO will once again offer "One Stop Shopping" for all of your Christmas Gift Card needs! You can order all of your gift cards in one place, at one time and they are delivered directly to the school. No running from store to store or standing in long lines. There are over 300 major retailers to choose from and the biggest bonus - the retailers donate a portion of the cards value back to St. Anna School! It is fundraising while you shop! You can also order gift cards and use them for your everyday purchases. Stock up on Dunkin Donuts, Panera or Starbucks cards and use them to purchase your morning coffee.
Please visit www.shopwithscrip.com to create an online account. Detailed instructions
If you don't want to create an online account, you can download a copy of the order form and submit it with your payment to Mrs. Priddy in the main office.
The PTO will be placing 3 orders this Christmas season. The order deadlines are Monday, December 3rd, December 10th and December 17th .
Paper order forms need to be turned in to the main office before the end of the school day, on the day of the deadline. Online orders can be submitted up to 6:30pm EST on the day of the deadline.

Christmas Around the World (Preschool to Grade 3)
Celebrating the Birth of Christ
Students in grade preschool through third will participate in Christmas Around the World on Friday, December 14th. They will be learning about the Birth of Christ through a variety of hands on projects including: A kindness Creche, Three Wise men, J is for Jesus, Angels, North Star, and a Manger.
They will visit each classroom and will make an ornament from that continent. They also need a plastic grocery bag to carry all of their ornaments home. Room parents will be organizing this event. Teachers will escort their classes from room to room as our students experience the Birth of Christ.
