A Few Updates:
Parent Survey: I wanted to thank each of the parents/legal guardians who have completed our Stuart Parent/Student Beginning of the Year Feedback Survey. The Student Advisory Council looked at the results this morning and had great insights on the results. We will also be reviewing the results of this survey with the Family Involvement Team next Friday during our very first FIT Team meeting of 20-21. If you have not done so, please help us out by filling out the survey by clicking HERE (also below). We truly do need your input so that we can continue to improve on our practices.
Inside Recess: I wanted to make you all aware that we had to keep our Raptors inside during recess Thursday and Friday due to concerns regarding the quality of the air. Our Raptors spent their recess inside in their cohorts with their masks on. While this is not ideal, we felt that this was needed to ensure the safety of our Raptors. We hope that the air quality improves by next week so that they can be outside.
Tutorials: If at any point you would like to learn about the digital tools/applications our Raptors are using, please feel free to visit THIS website so you can access tutorials that can help you better understand these tools. You can also have your Raptor attend Raptor Cafe as our highly qualified teachers can help them with anything they may be struggling.
I would also like to thank you, our community, for the communication regarding the struggles your Raptor is facing in this "new normal." We are all learning and our Raptors are true heros for staying strong through all of this madness. Remind them to reach out to their Academic Adviser, Counselor or Administrator if they need support. They can also attend Raptor Cafe for anything Stuart related. More than 90% of our Raptors are reporting that they know how to access materials and understand the instructions given by our teacher. While 90% is great, we want to get to 100%. We want to make sure that each of our Raptors knows how to access the materials and understand the instructions.
Together, we will continue to RISE! Have a great weekend Stuart!

Guest Speaker at Stuart
Dr. Matt Rodgers from the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) at CSU gave us an hour of his time to show us how scientists study weather and climate to help us predict the effects of climate change. Dr. Rodgers really brought what we have been learning in class to life by helping us see how scientists monitor and study our atmosphere. He used the models and satellites that his organization manages to show our Raptors how the rotation and uneven heating of the earth is responsible for our weather patterns. We were shown and analyzed the evidence of how the COVID virus has given us an idea of what the positive impacts on our earth could be with a decreased amount of human activity. He also left us with several resources we could use to track and current weather patterns and ongoing environmental/atmospheric issues our earth is currently facing like the wild fires on the west coast and the smoke they are producing. The students did a great job of staying engaged and asking questions.
