Erin's Law
A reminder that Erin's Law (Illinois Public Act 097-1147) requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all children in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth annually. This includes students in instructional programs (ACCESS, OASIS, RISE, STRIVE). Please note that instructional resources are adapted for students' developmental levels and individualized learning needs.
At the elementary level, instruction is provided by social workers and psychologists in partnership with classroom teachers. At the middle and high school levels, instruction is provided as part of the Health & Wellness curriculum. Erin's Law is not sexual education; it is personal safety instruction. Families must be informed annually of student participation. Should you receive questions regarding Erin's Law from parents/families, please reference this Erin's Law Q&A document.

- The Department of Instructional Interventions will now be the Department of Student Services
