It's a Wrap! - What an awesome first semester!
Hello wonderful CCS Families:
Greetings on yet another beautiful January Saturday (cloudy yes...but still in the mid 30's?...we will take that! ..smile:)
What an absolute blessing our students continue to be to all involved here at CCS. After enjoying a restful MLK day on Monday, our week started with fun and excitement in our classrooms (especially our music classroom where we are beginning to hear the familiar sounds from the Wizard of Oz!). On Wednesday, our incredible cheer team finished 2nd in the local competition (thank you Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Wybo!). Our 4th graders blessed the entire student body with an awesome chapel presentation on Friday (thank you Mrs. Giammalva!). We are looking forward to our Open House tomorrow (Sunday) and another exciting week as we wrap up this first semester in style!
"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil 1:6)
Please read on for more info....
3 Day Weekend Starts Friday, January 27
As an FYI, some of our teachers or parents may also wish to set up a "touch base" conference on this day. Both are welcome, but unlike the fall conference time, these are optional for our k-8 families.
Enjoy the rest and extra family time!
Moms in Prayer- This Thursday! Jan 26
The next Moms in Prayer time is scheduled for this Thursday, Jan 26th (the last day for students this week). Moms meet at 9:00 in the CEPC student center. Please join us!
Open House- Sunday, January 22nd.
A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Lorey (and our PTO!) for your efforts behind the scenes to help project our school in such a warm and welcoming manner. Our prayer is that God brings the exact families He would have learn and discover all that He is doing at CCS, and provide guidance and discernment to all involved. We are indeed excited! To God be the glory!
"Go out into the roads and the hedges and press upon them to come in, so that my house will be filled." (Luke 14:23)
4th grade rocked the house
Thank you Mrs. Giammalva and 4th grade! You were wonderful!
Clubs...Coming Up! - All Grades Included
As we look to include all students, the suggestion was made to have one week dedicated to K-3 and the next grades 4-8. Please look for more information coming home as more of those details are solidified.
As a reminder, clubs meet from 3:45 - 4:30 and there is no cost to attend. In addition to having fun with friends and learning, students are also provided an afterschool snack. This has truly been a fun time for our students! We look forward to expanding our options and involving more of our student body this coming semester.
Strategic Planning -resumes Monday, Jan 30
Please continue to join us in praying for God's leadership and guidance for the process and those that are serving so faithfully.
First Connecting, Communicating, and Coffee (C3) roundtable - was AWESOME!
Thank you to the parents that came to our first Head of School C3 meeting. This was a great time of sharing and discussion. Just as our students are awesome, so are their parents! Thank you for your heart for CCS and for generating ideas that will make each student's experience that much better.
Our next C3 meeting is tentatively set for Thursday, Feb 16th. All are invited. Coffee, light snacks and refreshments are provided.
Student Art Gallery - Meeting This Wednesday, Jan 25
During the March 10 gallery time, student artwork (preschool to 8th grade) will be lovingly displayed. In addition, there will also be a school silent auction for people to bid on items such as Principal for the Day, Librarian for the Day, no uniform passes, hot lunch for the year, and other items of interest. This is sure be a wonderful event and enjoyed by all.
We are looking for a few volunteers to help. If you would be willing, please sign up here!
Please consider coming to our first planning meeting on Wednesday at 2 o'clock! Thank you!!!!
School Starts at 8:35 a.m. Beginning Monday, Jan 30th
Good morning Sunshine!
As a gentle reminder, all k-8 classes will start at 8:35 beginning second semester (Jan 30th).
While we are excited about these new morning instructional minutes being added to our program, please know we are aware that a mid-year adjustment may require some flexibility with our families. Rest assured we will work with all to ensure a smooth transition.
March Reading activites and read-a-thon coming soon!
More information will be coming home as we move closer to this time.
Library Sets Tone for February with Patriotic and President's Day Theme!
In the months to come, our library team will be unveiling some exciting themes. A patriot theme is coming for the month of February which will focus on the biographies of US Presidents and other notable Americans. There will be many patriotic activities as well as a Presidential dress-up day! Please look for more information coming home soon.
Board to Approve 2023-24 Calendar
As an FYI, the school is planning to move from 174 instructional days to 180 next year. This will require us to either start before labor day, or go into the second week of June. Not an easy decision to weigh. Also, next year, local districts are in session throughout the fall until Friday, Dec 22. If CCS aligns with those dates, our families will have little time to prepare for Christmas. This is a concern as we place families, and family time during the holidays as a priority.
We thank the parents who served on the calendar committee for their input and work to help us arrive at two final versions. We also thank the staff and school administration for their ideas and recommendations. Regardless of which start and end dates are decided upon, we KNOW God will be honored and continue His good work at CCS!!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Cheer Team for placing 2nd at their competition on Wednesday! Your Thunder family is so proud of you for all of your hard work and dedication this season.
