Inclusivity Newsletter
December 2022 Edition III
Hello Creekside!
This month's newsletter will talk about International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is on December 3rd. I will also share something a little more personal about one of my nieces who has a disability. It is amazing to see how she learns and explores a world that is not always easily accessible to her.
As always, if you have any questions or would like me to talk about a certain topic, please contact me!
Happy Holidays!!

What's the Purpose?
The Importance of Inclusion and Acceptance:
Riyalynn
Her case may seem extreme on paper, but she never lets her disability stop her. She is adventurous, sassy, brilliant, and hilarious! She enjoys the world like everyone else! Riya just experiences it differently and that's okay!
Below are some videos to show you all how she navigates the world and learns new things!
Since Riya cannot learn certain motor skills by seeing, she uses her other senses like hearing and feeling to learn!
This is a Cranmer abacus which is a tool used to teach students with visual impairments to compute math problems.
All children have difficulty reading at first whether they are visually impaired or not. In this video, you can see Riya having trouble feeling out the first letter of a word. But given patience and time, she was able to get it!
