Dear Head Community,
Last night's International Night was amazing. I was so impressed with the quality of the food and entertainment. Thank you so much to the families who showcased their talents and shared their culture with us.
Our PTA fundraiser is gearing up next week! Thank you in advance for supporting our school. The funds go directly to bettering our school and helping our students and teachers.
Mark you calendar - next Friday, February 3rd is our next Digital Learning Day.

International Night
We had a wonderful time at International Night! Thank you to all the families that participated, to all the amazing performers, and for our Head ES community for attending!

Media Center Games! The media center games have begun. Students are being given the opportunity to see how many layups they can do in a minute during recess. Caden Birston holds the school record with 11 hoops in 1 minute. Coach G had the previous record at 10. But, on the buzzer with no time left, Caden was able to make the 11th basket, and the crowd went wild!
Do you want to learn a layup? Check back soon for the times of layup clinics being offered by student instructors who are now being trained in our Kids Teaching Kids program. Or watch these videos to learn!
The media center games are part of our Social and Emotional Learning initiative this year. Children are faced with challenging but attainable tasks and are given an opportunity to figure out how to do them through perseverance and self-control. In addition, anerobic activities, like the layup drill, are great for fitness and for relieving anxiety and stress. Keep playing, Broncos!

AKS at Home
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. This support is available for families to access in the format that suits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information, and gain tools and suggestions on how to best help their children through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics.
